Ok, so I stopped watching the middle of episode 1 earlier and watched the special instead, and found out that it was actually the beginning of the drama rather than the ending. I never realized that specials can be the beginning/introduction of a jdorama because I have always known that specials are sequels of a jdorama. _________________

Eh? It wasn't related to the story? I thought it was a continuation of the story because it was about the graduation of her students.

Yeah, good thing I decided to stop in the middle of episode 1 and take a peek at the special before it's too late _________________

As for me, I was wondering why on earth was the files arranged like that (I downloaded the batch, and the special was first in the arrangement of the files), so I became curious about it and went on to watch the special.

If you have already finished the whole thing, then it's useless to watch the special at this point. But if you are really curious about the beginning of the drama, then go ahead and watch it. _________________

i gave the 1st episode a try and i couldn't stand 15 minutes of it. i didn't get anything and gave up.
I'm considering giving it a try again, cuz some people say they didn't get anything until like 5-6th episode where everything is interwoven together..
I have no background wtih rakugo... is there hope for me??
should i give it another go? i like nagase

There are some jokes that are, well, very Japanese, but I think the fansubbers did a great job on translating (sometimes modifying) these jokes to make it applicable for other viewers (especially viewers from the West). I remember seeing Led Zeppelin's name being mentioned in the subtitle in a rakugo story, and it wasn't even mentioned by the storyteller, which means the fansubbers did some modifications for rhyming purposes or to make things fit for the english translation. Give it another try, I'm sure you'd like this jdorama. _________________
