I can't believe Miss Japan was runner up!!! She was that close! Aw! I wanted her to win!!! AHHHHHH!!! Puerto Rico got it instead. So sad, but I'm happy for her for winning.... Miss Japan should've gotten the crown!!!

AGH- Why did they pick that girl as the winner. JAPAN should have won. She was so awesome and sooooooooo cute.

I have been a huge pageant fan since I was little and without a doubt Miss Japan should have won the crown. To tell the truth though I am wondering how Puerto Rico is even eligible to be in Miss Universe considering how they are also allowed to be in the Miss USA pageant (which is the qualifier for the US rep to go on to Miss Universe) and then also have a different delegate in the Miss Universe pageant as well. Seems a little unfair to me.

^ That doesn't sound right. I think Puerto Rico is not part of the Miss USA contest. Only the 50 states and the District of Columbia compete.

I saw a pic of Miss Japan...she looked okay but I thought Miss Korea looked better. Oh well...congrats to Miss Japan for runner up.

Every year I've seen it it has been the 50 states, DoC and Puerto Rico.

You're right, that doesn't seem right. What about Miss Guam? Or Miss Name-your-US-territory?

Did you watch this years... if you goto MissUSA.com there is no mention of Puerto Rico anywhere for 2006.

Edit: and if you goto the "become miss usa" link, there's no Puerto Rico, Guam, USVI, Am Samoa, etc.. listed either.

OMG!!! I was really rooting for her! I know I should root for the Ms Phils. candidate (coz Im from the Philippines) but I dont really like her... sorry... Anywayz, when I saw Ms. Japan I was mesmerized! She had this Charming aura that I really can't explain! Her beauty has a different twist to it.... I really liked her from the moment I saw her.. and that samurai costume! WOW. She deserved to win... she was talented, smart and of course drop dead pretty! The crowd loved her too! I really dunn0 why she's only a runner up... _________________

I've witnessed the pageant as well and I was kinda disappointed at Miss Japan. Yes, I admire her for being fluent in French and Spanish and maybe as well as English..but one thing that threw me off was on the first Q&A portion. I forgot the question asked for her but she answered in French! The Japanese translator couldn't do anything...then she spoke again...I thought she was gonna translate her answer in English but then she only thanked the supporters =_=.

oh yeah... i forgot about that... i was also confused when she answered in French and the translator did nothing but stand there *coz she probably couldn't translate it* and all the peepz applauded her & I was like "What happened??!!" I couldn't uunderstand Jap or French so I wasn't really aware of her answer at that time... rofl
