Report 1
Ninomiya Kazunari to star in the lead role in Haikei, Chichiuesama.
This is the continuation of Senryaku, ofukurosama. Starts in January.
Kazunari Ninomiya (23) from the popular group Arashi, will play the lead role in Fuji Terebi's winter drama 'HaiKei ChiChiuesama' (Dear Father) which will be screened on Thursday nights at 10 p.m. The script was written by Sou Kuramoto (71). Kuramoto is known for writing the script for the popular youth dorama from Nitere TV, 'Senryaku Ofukurosama' which ran from 1975-77 and which starred Kenichi Hagiwara, now 56. 'Haikei' can be seen as the 'Heisei Version' of 'Senryaku' and it will be a human drama with comedy injected into it.
The stage for Haikei is an established eatery in Tokyo's Kagurazaka. Kagurazaka is the 'Shitamachi on the Yamanote' and the drama is about the everyday life of the people there; the things that they laugh and cry over.
("Shitamachi: A lower part of town, traditional working class neighbourhood.")
Ninomiya plays a simple apprentice chef Ippei, who works in the restaurant named Sakashita. Kuramoto was taken in by Nino's acting in Yasashijikan two years ago and this time, wanted him to act in this drama again.
Ninomiya says enthusiastically, "I am very thankful that I can work with Kuramoto-san to do a sequel to his drama. I will be very happy if I can, together with my co-stars, produce an interesting piece of work."
In the dorama, the story revolves around the identity of Ippei's father. His mother, Yukino (Reiko Takashima) (42) was a popular geisha in the olden Kagurazaka and brought up Ippei single-handedly.
In Senryaku, the hero of the story was writing letters about what was on his mind to his mother, but his time, in Haikei, the letters are written to the father.
There is this mysterious and beautiful girl, played by Meisa Kuroki (18), which Ippei falls in love with at first sight.
[oh so there is love story haha] Again, Kaoru Yachigura (75) will play the lady boss, the same role she had in Senryaku. Tatsuo Umemiya will play the chef at the restaurant, Yayoko Kishimoto (45) and Tatsumi Takahashi (45) will also be starring in the drama.
Report 2
Sou Kuramoto's script will be made into a Fuji Terebi Drama 'Haikei, Chichiuesama' which starts in January
On November 6th, it was announced that the popular scriptwriter, Sou Kuramoto(71) and Kazunari Ninomiya (23) both of which worked on Yasashijikan in January last year will again come together in January next year for another drama 'Haikei, Chichiuesama' [Dear Father] under the same TV station, Fuji Terebi.
This piece of work is a human drama-type comedy which draws from Kuramoto-shi's big hit drama 31 years ago, 'Senryaku ofukurosama' [Greetings Mother]. Ninomiya, who plays the role of an apprentice chef in Tokyo's Kagurazaka, says, "I am thankful that I am able to do a new second drama with Kuramoto-san."
Kuramoto-shi is commonly associated with writing stories set in Hokkaido's Furano, as can be seen in the popular series 'Kitanokunikara' and last year's 'Yasashijikan'. In reality, since he wrote Senryaku ofukurosama in Showa Year 50 (1975), he said he had been mulling over doing a Shitamachi human drama again, one more time.
That plan was given a boost after he met Ninomiya, who played a naive young man who had troubled relationship with his father (Akira Terao) in YasashiJikan.
"His acting is refreshing." He was charmed with Nino's acting talent and said, "For this story, it has to be Ninomiya!" Ninomiya has also placed trust in Kuramoto-shi and therefore was quick to accept the offer.
The stage of the new drama, Haikei Chichiuesama, is in Kagurazaka, which on the one hand, has some spots like Karyukai which still has a tinge of the old Edo period but is changing to a new face due to development in the area. Ninomiya plays a simple and honest young apprentice chef, Tahara Ippei, who works in an established restaurant Saka Shita.
The story revolves around relationships between Ippei, who is an illegitimate child and his mother, Yukino (Reiko Takashima), who is a former geisha, a strange young girl, (Meisa Kuroki), the lady boss of the resturant Sakashita, Yumeko (Kaoru Yachigura) and the chef Ryuji£¡Tatsuo Umemiya). Woven into the story are issues about the sale of the land on which the restaurant sits on, problems of development and the search for Ippei's father.
To write this story, Kuramoto-shi stayed in a hotel in Kagurazaka for a long time. This is the first time he has actively gone all around the place to gather information to write a TV drama. It is certain that the story will be full of realistic depictions of everyday life in Karakuzaka. Furthermore, as 80% of the location shoots will be in Kagurazaka, it seems that the attention will on this spot will increase.
Kuramoto-shi says, "Whilst there is a flavour of Edo in it, there is also western influence, and it is a strange but yet charming street whereby both east and west meet. Through the use of comedy, I wanted to bring out the Edo Humour, which is the essence of comedy skits, in this piece of work. Using Kagurazaka as the stage, I will be depicting vividly through my writing, the life of each person living there."
