I'm not going to lie, I liked the movie, I know I'm prolly the only one here, but I thought it was cool. Yes it was in many ways a reahash of the rest of the series, but it had one thing the show didn't have...a budget. It felt like a movie, and it was well produced, you can't argue that, plus, my thinking is any GTO is good GTO, just the show especially towards the end, was great GTO.

The first thing I tought when I watched the gto movie was "they made this in a hurry to grab more money from the gto phenomenon". To me it's obvious that the script was written in a weekend and everybody read it only when filming hehe

I never said the script was genius, but the overall production value was high, plus it has sorimachi in it, be happy.

The movie has gooten alot of slack here and not that it didn't deserve it. But it has some good GTO movements to but to me it just felt like they didnt have even close enough of scripting material to make it into a movie if it had been a 45 min ep with alot of uncessecassry stuff cut away It might have worked better.

Still it was more GTO and more GTO is always better :)

SPOILERS

I'm still lost on the connection of the movie to the actual series. As stated, Onizuka is 22 in the series, no? In the movie he's 26. He also said he was single. On the condom he carries, it says on it " for the second special one " giving me hints that he dumped Fuyutsuki. In the special, him and Fuyutsuki originally were going to go to Hokkaido together.

BUT what got me was that Onizuka still had the motocycle in the movie, when in the special he trashed it by driving into the river.

Now unless he had a lot of money to salvage his motocycle, I began to realize that maybe the movie and the drama do not connect.

As showbussiness goes...who needs continuity when you've got a fan following of 500,000 +?

I live in U.S. and just bumped into your guys forum after watching the special. I got the gto special from animesuki.com and its only 90 mins long. It ends where onizuka gets the phone call and I really want to know what happens after word. After i watched it i felt like the special hadnt ended yet so i did some searching on the net and found its supposed to be 120+ mins. I really have to know what happens and was wondering is theres any other fan sub people with the full version of the special that i can download or buy from. Or you could just aim me and tell me what happens. I really want to know.

chairmanmao7188,

Go to the JTV bittorrent site:
http://drama.afraid.org/bt/japan-tv/

The complete special with English subs is being served there.

Enjoy!

Had to go watch it again..... Oh, that phone call...

You have to remember that this special was made for TV, so the running time with commercials would have been 2 hrs long approximately (this is a big assumption on my part), so without the commercials you'd end up with the 90 mins. The phone call is the lead in to the GTO movie...part of the reason why Onizuka heads up to Hokkaido.

The reason why you feel like you have an abrupt ending to the special is because there is no traditional end credits. Remember, all of the credits were put up during the opening (common practice for a lot of Japanese dramas), so why do it again at the end?

you guys may be right but from what i read in the older posts on this discussion there is something that happens afterwards. I also watched the movie and it does not connect because he is not in Hokkaido and its about some reporter.

A true, true. The movie focused more on the reporter getting the case than Onizuka.
