A better intro of Yukie-chan would be Trick... Her chemistry with Abe Hiroshi is terrific. Victory! Peace!

OH YEAH!! I have all trick series. But the first one is I think from a VHS copy that's why it's not clear.. but the subtle humor is what makes it soooooooo funny. I look at what's happening at the background more than what's happening in the foreground sometimes.. rofl

@ the recommendations thread, you can go through previous pages and see what people have watched and what others have recommended according to themes, actors/actresses and so on.

But watch some food dramas. They're good Mr Green

I'm going to let the hubby watch this to introduce him more to Nakama Yukie who's in the dorama that we're watching right now about her being a non conformist housewife.

I love Nakama Yukie. I never saw the original Gokusen, but Gokusen 2 was aired here in the great state of Southern Cal. It was a huge disappointment. I thought that Yukie's fight scenes were poorly directed and staged... .they looked ridiculous. And the repetitive nature of each weekly episode became very boring.
Didn't she look great as MC for the females in the New Year's Kohaku Uta Gassen? Flying Kiss

Finished Affection Time

This is definitely one of my favorites. The plot was very interesting, an everyday life wrapped brillantly with a defferent twist of the word 'love'. Yet, i think, Ninomiya Kazunari (another personal fave artiste, he was so adorable in this one. a mix of mature and cute Thumbsup) did great playing a mature role instead of his typical teen roles in doramas. All casts did great. Definitely one of the series that i'd consider beautiful, and the thing is, it's not the usual boy&girl love or some really cute new star that's playing a role where she/he dies in the end of the show.

the only problem with this dorama IMO is the pace, very snailish. But looking at the fact that the setting was awsomely beautiful (i love it, especially the coffee shop!), i think they wanted to show more artistic views instead of blabs.

I just love how they have a guest star for every episode...

The guest for episode 8 (Domoto) was a 'wow' .wkakakakkakak hehe he looked like nagase tomoya. and he wore a smexy winter outfit. who is he?

And who is the cute oyaji that always knits in the coffee shop?

rofl rofl rofl episode 10... the unbelieveable beauty from tokyo... wkakakakakakk... very very very frieky. LOL, yeah, who wouldn't fall off their chair?

the last two episodes was soo sweet Thumbsup

9/10

I'm glad you enjoyed "Yasashii Jikan" Monta.

Ooof. I knew I'd have a let down after this one, but I didn't expect to fall through a trap door.

I started watching "Satorare", mostly because I wanted something light and frivolous. But this thing is just stupid.

Okay, truth to tell, I'd already watched the first two episodes a few months ago when I first started downloading it. And at the time, I thought it was silly, but acceptable. I like it when TV shows take a chance. And they took a big chance on this ridiculous premise. (A guy so brilliant that everyone around him can hear his every thought.)

That was then. Now I'm coming off watching a remarkable series, and this is just too big a drop off. I guess I'll put it back on the shelf and wait until my standards have been lowered again.

Thanks to Tu_triky I get to spend the next couple of days watching movies. The high point being Miki Nakatani's "Memories of Matsuko".

Nice. But these are not gonna lower my standards.

If you want to do a 'soft-reset', so to speak, you can always watch a couple of episodes of the greater neutralizer - SOS. hehe

Just finished Brother Beat, a 2005 series. First of all, it's a rip-off of a series done 10 years earlier entitled Second Chance. In both, there is a widow (played by the same actress, Misako Tanaka) who works part-time in a grocery store while raising three sons who call her by her first name and cause her troubles except one who is the most sensitive and does the cooking and cleaning. In Brother Beat, the characters are stereotypes, the fighting among the brothers becomes real old real fast, and the acting is. . . well, typical of the level of performance seen in most dorama nowadays Shake Head. The talents of the two genuinely good actors who appear in this series--Ryoko Kuninaka and Takuzo Kadono--are largely wasted because of the limitations of their characters. Overall, a mediocre dorama.

I wonder why Misako Tanaka would want to repeat the exact same role. That's like painting the same painting twice. Head Scratch
