i've just downloaded a Salyu single album coz Keps and A-Dad have been talkin about em Beaten hehe

the one that has the TOWER single in it.

my first impression was, she was a japanese softer version of Natasha Beddingfield... nice voice

What, is Terminal available to download somewhere?? I really want it.
Mind you, I'm probably going to end up buying the cd anyway, for the artwork. The artwork with Landmark is fabulous, and I've read Terminal's is pretty good.

@ AD - definitely agree that Salyu's voice is richer than most. I think Salyu has one of the most unique and wonderful female voices I've heard.
She sounds like a woman, and not a girl, which ia always good imo. Smile

I think monta-san means IRC chat: IRC is Internet Relay Chat, which is an old-style chat that you need an old-style client for. It's good for file transfers though, and you can often get stuff from IRC channels that you can't get anywhere else. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Relay_Chat

Not for the faint of heart or the noob though.

Eek, I'd never heard of this before. Thanks for the info.
Looking at that link, it looks beyond my tech knowledge. Huh.

@ Topic - does anyone have any suggestions for Japanese female artists who don't sound girlish?

uh huh. same here. i have no idea how they get all those stuffs from that IRC thingi. he gets doramas, animes, PVs, and mp3 from it.

i have no idea on the meaning of a song, so i dunno which are girly or not. But i'm still recommending Namie Amuro to you. I LOVE her! try these songs: ALARM, Put em' Up, Handle Me, GIRL TALK, Fish, Shine More and etc.

but i have a feeling her songs are girly Beaten Sweat

you can get them from the getasianmusic.com/~downloads/Japanese

Thanks cori-chan - I watched some of those videos and loved them all Smile You are the J-Pop princess now Wink

monta-san - IRC isn't THAT difficult, you just have to have patience and a little knowledge. I downloaded the whole Scrapped Princess anime thru IRC once Smile

And I think "girly" was referring to the voice, rather than the song itself Smile Ai Otsuka would be girly, Salyu not Wink

oh i like CORE OF SOUL. before they were popular (and i believe they're not that popular until now) they actually performed in Indonesia. free. but also without notice and advertisement. it's a goverment culture program whatever. still regret that i missed it. their english pronounciation rocks.

for ayaka, instead of Melody, i really recommend 'I Believe' and 'Mikazuki'. those songs are her best IMO Big Grin

anyone here like Yoko Kanno's stuff? his GiTS SAC II album rocks, especially the ones with Ilaria Graziano

CORE OF SOUL broke up, but I still think that their songs are really good.

As for ayaka, I liked Melody better than I Believe and Mikazuki because it has more kick than those ballads. Besides, everyone recommends those songs whenever they mention her, so I thought I'd post something different. Smile

I quite like Super Monkeys stuff, but the person wanted "non-girly" type of music/voices, and SM music is the definition of "girly" (next to Morning Musume). Wink

COS broke up last year, IIRC. I think that Fukko will release music under the generic name "Love."

And though ayaka's mellow songs are good, I still like "melody" the best.

Hey guys!
I like songs by Rain or Se7en, I like the beat.
Who could help me and tell me some japanese/korean bands or japanese/korean singers whose music is like these of Rain or Se7en?
I would be very thankful if someone could help me.

Akane

The person I immediately thought of was Miura Daichi. His voice is higher pitched than Rain & Se7en and he isn't as good looking, but his songs are great. You can check some of his PVs at Youtube ( No Limit, Free Style) and there are other Miura Daichi stuff there as well.

I also think that DA PUMP might be a good choice too. They're poppy, but they occasionally have some R&B tracks, plus the lead singer (ISSA) is pretty good looking. Wink You can check out DA PUMP lives/PVs @ Youtube

Hopefully you'll like their stuff, if not, I know of other male singers/groups that specialize in R&B.

Yay, I'm glad you like them. Big Grin

As for other suggestions, you might want to try ISSA's solo album. He's the lead singer of DA PUMP, but his album has a variety of styles, including R&B, ballads, rockish songs.

Another person you could try out is Mazda Ryozy. He's not really known, but his songs are pretty good, though a bit generic R&B.
Official site: http://www.toshiba-emi.co.jp/ryozymazda/

Ryohei (or Yamamoto Ryohei) is another good singer. He's collaborated with m-flo (ew) and some other people, but I prefer his solo songs.
Official site: http://www.rhythmzone.net/ryohei/

I can upload a few samples when I have more time. Smile Also, I thought I'd mention that all of these singers don't seem to dance in their videos, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not. I think that the Jpop artists that actually dance are mostly poppy ones. Sad

i'm starving for something with a really good dance beat, something westernized. any recommendations?

something like Namie Amuro's Fish, Put 'em Up, ALARM, Uh Uh or BoA's Lady Galaxy and Revolution Code or ZEEBRA's songs. songs by these 3 artists will do fine since i haven't heard all of their songs.

a link if possible. thx Thumbsup
