Oh wow I loved this drama and I never wrote anything in this thread so I guess is never to late...

What can I say, is an amazing high school based story with many great little morals that we all should know about. The acting was quite amazing and yamapi was f'ing hilarious. rofl

I wish there was some sort of second part to this story Sad

Something interesting to point out. Didn't anyone (that seen Chakushin ari) noticed how maki (nobuta) plays the same character almost in a sense in the movie(except hangs herself..) and even some of the actors from Nobuta wo produce are in the same class with her in the movie hehe.

YATTA!!! I finished watching all eps around last week but no time to post because of studies studies studies!!! NwP is the second Jdrama that got me hooked on!! (the first one being Gokusen). SUGOI!! I started to like YamaP more and more!!! First time I see him in GYM (Golf and Mike), I didnt like him much, because he didnt smile. But when I got to see NwP, I was just amazed at his acting skills and then I got to know more about him!! So bad...I didnt wish his b.d. on 9th April T_T Anyway, Happy Birthday!!

Kame is as good as ever. Adorable. I came to know of Maki in this drama....her eyes just like L though(from DeathNote) haha.....But then I realised Toda Erika (Mariko) was the one in DeathNote huhu ^^"
Why is everything related to other things? Well...anyway, I just love this drama plus with the theme song. Actually I watched this drama because I saw Seishun Amigo with translated sub and it was soooooo touchy! Fell for it ^-^

hey guys..i'm new..just started watching japanese dramas..hehe..and i was surprised that nobuta wo produce was way back in 2005..it didnt look so 2 years before..to me.i liked it..i thought the story is somewhat stereotypical of many other highschool-popularity-social life thing..but the twists made it interesting...i found it really worthwhile and life changing!

thumbs up to kazuya..(not really sure how to call him) he made shuji believable and alive...also to yamashita..i dont know if he has some signature role or acting..but he sure did play a crazy eccentric boy well (i love it when he laughs..cute!) w00t!

You can ask bout dorama recommendation here..

http://www.jdorama.com/viewtopic.2708.2460.htm

I sort of wanted to try Seito Shokun (because Hongo Kanata and Shirota Yuu are working together in this drama Smitten ) but I read a few bad reviews about it (like the cliche bad-students-setting happens again, it was just like Gokusen, etc), so I didn't. Do you recommend it?

That's why I like NwP. It's not your typical school life drama. Thumbsup

To me this drama was just so-so. For some reason, Kamenashi Kazuya lacks presence, and the show itself had little low or high points.

So, Nobuta wo Produce fans (especially those who like it more than One Litre of Tears), tell me what you think of my criticisms.

I could be totally off-base and wrong, but I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Wish I could give more details and ideas but it's been a while I've seen the drama + I'm in a hurry right now. I might edit the post later on, or reply a second time if any other ideas regarding what you mentioned comes to mind. Victory! Peace!

Note: hehe, my first drama was also 1 liter of tears and since then, I have actually quit almost watching any TV just to watch Japanese dramas lol (as to why I think I seen so many) You mentioned you going to watch GTO. While my suggestion might not mean anything to you, I didn't like GTO that much (compared to some which swear is the best drama ever..) and if you looking for something very similar(maybe too similar lol) to 1 liter of tears then Taiyou No Uta might be the one (is not 100% perfect like 1 liter of tears but oh boy is once again tragic, and has the same actress so you might feel an attachment to that from the start)
If you want to get out of the tragic drama genre then I totalllllllyyyyy recommend Nodama Cantabile and My Boss My Hero, anyone who says those 2 dramas are bad, just needs to get shot (2 of the greatest funny, romantic, and exciting dramas I have everrrr seen) you can't go wrong with any of those 2 choices.

Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, I've heard the suicide rate in Japan was quite high.

In America, suicide is seriously one of the most looked down upon things someone can do. It's viewed as selfish, cowardly, and the most pathetic thing a person can do. Regardless of religion, most Americans are extremely ashamed and scornful of suicide.
I had a friend who killed himself (relapse into depression without medication) and his parents, Roman Catholics who deeply loved him, simply COULD NOT believe that it was suicide despite all the forensic evidence and everything, and of course did not mention cause of death in his obituary.

Hm, I'll keep that in mind. I haven't started GTO yet.
And I definitely do want to watch the other Erika Sawajiri one. I really love her as an actress and she might be the most beautiful person I have ever seen. To be honest tho, I kind of want to save it. That's the same reason I haven't watched Long Vacation, which I heard was one of the very best, either.
I kind of want to go through a few I know I'll enjoy before getting to the real gems.

Then def go for my boss my hero or nodame cantabile.
You not only going to find it romantic in it's own unique way but F'ING hilarious! Anyone will agree with that hehe. Is also a change of genre and style which is worth to explore.

As for Aya (erika sawajiri) beh, I felt in love with that girl when I seen her on 1 liter of tears (not to mention it was my first drama as well) but I lost a lot of respect for her after all the recent issues with her, her attitude, and she even looks much different now. (Guess I always expected her to look simple, and very down to earth...)

Never heard of that drama. I'll check it out soon.
What's that about Erika's recent issues? I heard something about arrogance or whatever, but what can we expect from a beautiful and privledged actress....
And recent look changes? All I've noticed is longer hair and sometimes more makeup. Still astonishingly beautiful, the makeup is just unnecessary (maybe a LITTLE bit detrimental.)
I hope she doesn't get rid of the tooth gap. It is too cute.

I'll talk about how quickly I fell in love with her after starting One Litre of Tears on that show's board.

Anyway, I was trying to remember, what was the exact reason given for Aoi hating Nobuta? I just remember something that seemed to amount to jealousy, but I'd appreciate if someone could refresh my memory as to what it was exactly.

I just watched this series in about three days. ^^;

I thought it was amazing! Akira is one of my favorite
characters I've ever seen in a show.
