Don't know about the earthquake, but the soccer game started at 19:20 Japan time and it was essentially over by the hour mark. Even if the game was broadcasted in delay mode, I think most of the people interested would have found out the result via the net.

According to my sources, soccer ended at 9:26PM, averaging 20.0%. The highest momentary rating was at 9:02PM (Almost exactly at start time ) at 30.2%.
Usually ratings of Mon@9PM timeslots for other stations are in low to mid 10s.

That would make the start of broadcasting slightly before 8pm, and 9.02pm seemed to coincide with Japan's 4th (and final) goal. I guess people were still too excited to want to watch how the goals were scored instead of record it for later viewing.

How are those points working? They can't be percentage, because just the first two is greater than 100%. _________________

According to Oricon, they poll 100 male and female respondents from each of the following groups: high school students, university students, 20 year olds, 30 year olds and 40 year olds.
The points are allocated in the following manner:
1) Entire drama: 30 pts
2) Main actors (performance, character, etc): 10 pts
3) Supporting actors (performance, character, etc): 10 pts
4) Drama theme: 10 pts
5) Story, script: 10 pts
6) Drama footage: 10 pts
7) Music: 10 pts
8) Artistry (location, etc), accessories/gadets, fashion: 10 pts
