GTO gets the following votes: 9,8,7,8 which gives us the average: 8

Hero gets: 10,7,10 which gives us the average: 9

Summer Snow gets: 10,10,10,10,9 and average 9.8

The List will be:
1.Summer Snow
2.Hero
3.GTO

OHHHHHHHHH! You mean the average of RATINGS that we give each drama out of 10. I see I see. That becomes difficult tho for artistes. We would have to have two different methods.

No problem! You're suggestion does seem the fairest way... or at least more so than what we have already. Smile

But you can still have people pushing up the average with overly high rating numbers.

That's why TV ratings are so lame.

Any chance they can change the name of this website to "JUeno.com" or possibly "Fanboys R Us"???

Or at the very least, divide the "Latest Posts" section into two parts: Real News and Fanboy Crap!!

Yea true. O YEA! Cause it would be based on the rating on VOTE only. I forgot. When I watch a drama, I rate it right away, but those aren't votes. They're just comments with a rating. If the list was based on the ratings added to the comments, then it would be more fair. Because then you'd have all the bad ratings as well.

btw, that's not a suggestion, just a realization. Mr Green

I thought that idea would be great too. It would be nice if it were implemented on each individual drama page as well, but it sounds difficult and very time-consuming to do.

To weed out the fangirl/boy spammers who'd try to load up the votes, we should put in constraints like only established members with over several hundred posts (250?) are allowed to vote...

that would knock down most of the male victims that johnny kitagawa sexually molested personally out of the running...that is to say most of the young male actors currently blathering today.

Hmmm, good idea. Although there a lot of SMAP thread fans that would qualify in that case hehe

I guess I'm out of the voting process unless I spam certain threads. Beaten

Don't know if it's possible, but if we do set a minimum post count, we have to make sure that whenever that person gets past the minimum, they don't go into a voting frenzy and then never returns...

I think this would be bad for the popularity of the board as a whole tho. I mean, when I first registered, I didn't register to participate in the forum. I registered to use the "My Drama" feature, write reviews, and vote for my favs. I'm sure there are thousands of members who are using the forum for this very reason. If they couldn't, they wouldn't register, and we wouldn't have the numbers.

Having numbers is important when running a forum where there are other interactive things to do aside from posting.

I also think the amount of spamming would increase if we had a set number of posts needed, which would cause more trouble.

well I think it is better because then the new dramas can get on the list too. Right now every drama has to get atleast 50 votes to get in. Besides the list are just suppose to be a small guide/hint to dramas, right?

This has probably already been mentioned, but I don't see why you shouldn't be possible to vote 1-10 for the dramas instead of just picking your top 9. Basically what it shows now is the top 50 most popular j-dramas, and has nothing with rating to do. I think this is wrong.

Sure, if you enable voting for 1-10 there are bound to be fanboyvotes. There always will be. Personally I don't care much about fanboys, but they do add popularity and the high rated shows are often still quite good, especially for beginners. If this bothers you, you could always code an algorithm that limit fanboyvotes. People with less than 5-10 votes maybe shouldn't have such a big weight on the final rating. People that only use 7-10 ratings too. Maybe people who have a lot of votes spread on a lot of different values ranging from 3-10 should have a bigger impact on the final average rating. This if you have something about fanboyvotes. As it is now I don't think the top 50 list is especially useful, but I might be alone.

Another feature that can follow because of this is a "j-drama hint feature" that simply give recommendations based on your votes. Because if a lot of people vote, and you seem to have a high sync with some people, chances are that you will like the animes they rated high too. I realize this is a lot of work, and don't really know programming in anyway, but these are suggestions I feel would improve this page.

EDIT: Well, now after I read a bit here I see this is in discussion at the very moment. I am still in favour of my suggestion, and as you said limiting voting to only x+ number of posts is not a good way, this I promise you. In that case a secret algoritm (so people won't know how to abuse it) that somewhat modifies the average rating is better. And to get a permanent rating it would need, say 50 votes, to be shown. Most of my ideas are being used at www.anidb.net so you might want to take a look at that page, though you need to register to actually access a lot of the features.

Thanks for the suggestions.

We've indeed discussed about the various methods, and I've delved into many of them before actually implementing the current one, which is simple, fair, but only represents the most popular artistes/dramas and missing out on the latest dramas.

The current system will stay, I may implement something additional to fill that gap.

Doh! Doh! Sorry Genma. Dunno where to post this since I cannot use office email.

For update:

Name of Drama: First Kiss
Link: http://jdorama.com/drama.1172.htm
Please add theme song: "Kotoro" by Oda Kazumasa

I thought some viewers should get to know this talented songwriter/singer. "Kotoro" was one of the top singles with "Green Days" (Ushi ni Negai wo: Love & Farm)

If there is some info or mis-info I would like to alert the moderator, which thread should I use ?

thx

I think it's more accurate to give you info in japanese:
