Wow. Thanks.
Now I want to watch it more than ever. T^T But school keeps me so busy.
You're welcome...it was definitely worth watching. I think you'll enjoy it. It has actors/actresses NOT idols trying to be actors.
That's one of the big distinctions b/n doramas of the 90s and the current crop (or should I say crap) of doramas....the ppl in the 90s seemed more talented at the craft of acting...and the scripts were more agreeable and well suited to the ppl acting in the shows.

I was wondering what are some good J-Dramas. I like to watch comedy, Romance Comedy, Romance, high school themes, Yakuza( I loved My Boss My Hero Halarious), I don't mind if the drama makes you cry, you could also recommend a drama that you really like, I really liked Proposal Daisakusen, ( this drama made me cry), can you guys also tell me couple of good dramas that came out this year. I prefer if the dramas that dates from 2000-2007.

Watch Kekkon Dekinai Otoko and Nodame Cantabile.....both have romance and comedy and are not too heavy on the melodrama...they came out last year.
I've seen three episodes of Kekkon Dekinai Otoko so far and the first episode of My Boss my Hero.
I really like Kekkon Dekinai...it just has the right amount of comedy mixed with what I believe to be japanese daily life (I assume it's not like this in reality, but hey... ).
My Boss, my Hero seems to be TOO MUCH comedy for me. It's turning out to have a lots of more or less "wanna-be-funny" jokes...as far as I can say after having seen only the first episode. I think I will give it a second chance with episode #2...but this one's better gonna be good. Hehe....
I still have to check out Densha Otoko....and I think I will give Notabe Cantabile a shot....

Thanks I'll check Kekkon Dekinai Otoko out and I already have Nodame Cantabile but didn't watch it yet. Anymore recommendations? I like to watch something as funny as My Boss My hero or something you really liked that you want to tell me.

Kekkon Dekinai is pretty dayem funny as is Nodame Cantabile......another dorama which is really funny is Tiger and Dragon, which also stars Tomoya Nagase from My Boss My Hero, but it has a lot of idiosyncratic jokes which involve Japanese language so some of the humor might escape you...but it is really funny to be sure...also try Densha Otoko if you want to laugh a lot.
Brother Beat is also pretty funny too.

Tiger and Dragon was awesome, I fear you didn't get some of the jokes...no matter. I suspect you are pretty young....not a dig, just my speculation.
Hmmm.....I'd also recommend, Long Vacation, Love Generation, Beautiful Life, H2, Oyaji, Summer Snow, and Dekichatta Kekkon

if you have any questions just private message me....
Damn...it seems like I've seen more Dorama's than I expected. The memory was gone but now as I read through the synopsises (is that correct? LOL) of the various doramas I realize that I already know them. Hehe
Long Vacation, Summer Snow, Shotgun Marriage, Love Generation....and probably even some more which I cannot remember right now...hehe...well, it's good to be back again.
By the way....Ryoko Hirosue really is kawaii Hehe....
Hi, I'm quite new to all this, and I wouldn't mind some good recommendations. I've seen four j-drama series so far, so I'm still green. I have seen about 200 animes though, so I'm not totally new to the Japanese culture if case you would hesitate to recommend something slightly bizzare . If I would order my seen j-dramas so far, it would be 1 Litre of Tears, Gokusen S1, Densha Otoko and Dragon Sakura, with the best show first.
Basically I'm open to most things, but I think I prefer something that is touching, moving or anything else that affects you much. I'm weak for tragedies, so that may be a good ingredient, if the feelings are true. Watching a bad tragedy is among the worst though. I do like comedy too, but humour is often very individual. I think I tend to like subtle, heartwarming (or heartwrenching) humour more than the outrageous kind, but it's hard to generalize.
Some works I've considered is Summer Snow, Forbidden Love, Sekai no Chuusin and maybe Taiyou no Uta. If possible I would like to hear some spoilerfree comments about those too, in addition to the other recommendations.
Honey & Clover anime (mind, not the movie), Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo, Full Metal Alchemist, 12 Kingdoms, Nausicaa, and Mushishi are a few of my favourite animes if that helps you.

Best tragedy: Beautiful Life and my favorite drama of all, (even though it's not a tragedy) Long Vacation Can't go wrong with those two.
Edit: If you want something thats both touching and funny, you might want to try Hito ni Yasashiku

All the dramas you mentioned are good choices for what you're looking for.
I also recommend Aruganon ni Hanataba wo (Flowers for Algernon). Hopefully you can find a better subbed version than I have. Not tragic like some of the others mentioned, but I bawled like a baby in the last episode.
Kamisama Mou Sukoshi Dake is another touching/tear-jerker drama that I highly recommend.
And lastly, i recommend my favorite: Kimi ga Oshiete Kureta Koto. There isn't a tragedy here either, but it's really touching and cute. Very overlooked and underrated drama. _________________

As for the other recommendations thanks. Both the famous Beautiful Life and Long Vacation will be watched at some point. For the more unknown mentions (at least for me) I thank you too. They all look interesting and those are probably the ones I would never have tried without recommendations. I'll check them out some time.
And I also found another j-drama, Ruri no Shima, which looks interesting. Anyone who can comment this without spoilers?

Ruri no Shima is what I would consider a family drama. The scenery is extremely beautiful and (IMO) the show is a lot better because of the lack of overly-present actors who are also idols (i.e. JE) The storyline is simple, and not overdone: A young girl who is unloved by her birth mother moves from Tokyo to Hatojima to be a foster child in order to "save" the island's school, without which the population of the island will not be able to survive.
Overall, a very good drama. One of my favorites and a definite recommend. _________________

To follow up what usagi_on_the_moon said, Yes, this is a very underrated drama. Great photography, real solid cast with Takenouchi Yutaka, Manami Konish, some great character actors (Fumiyo Kohinata, Sei Hiraizumi, to name 2) and a suprisingly good performance from Riko Narumi as "Ruri". It even spawned a special which was broadcast earlier this year.
Wondering what I should watch next!? I just finished Ichi ritoru no namida (boy, was that GOOD?!), nodame (LOVE), hana yori dango (it's okay), i love long vacation, beautiful life, Yamato Nadeshiko (one of my favorites!!)
I don't want to watch anything sad as ichi ritoru no namida really made me sad for a while. I want something that's light, but kinda prefer something non-romantic in nature. Any rec?
I mean a little bit is okay, but not the entire story line. I actually like the love story of long vacation and nodame!
