I was watching To Heart and there are these cone-shaped things filled with what looks like some sort of creme that Toko (the main girl) makes. Does anybody know what those are called? I'm almost afraid to ask because I'm sure someone knows... and I'll learn how to make it... and then spend my days after that trying not to get fat off of them. But I'd like to know anyway. ^.^
I think they were crepes ... maybe filled with whipped cream and fruit. You can put anything in a crepe, like ice cream or chocolate. But the law says that it must be fattening. Good luck!

Crepes, big in Japan but not Japanese food. You can find recipes to make the crepe itself, look under "German Pancakes" or "Crepes". There would probably be something on foodnetwork.com . They are usually filled with whipped cream and fruits like strawberries. Good luck!

Yea, soon as I figured out that they were actually crepes I was seeing, I knew they weren't Japanese. But foodnetwork's a good idea... wonder why i didn't think of that.

Here's a quick recipe for crepes:
1 cup of flour
1 cup of milk
1 egg
Mix milk and egg first. Then add the wet to the dry. Mix until you have a thin batter. Heat up a non-stick pan, and just coat the pan with the batter thin. It will cook very fast. Flip it in the air if you're adventurous. Else, use a spatula. You can be creative with the fillings. Strawberries and whipped cream are nice, as are blueberries or just plain jam.
YUMMMMMMMMMM.
I got this recipe from James Gosling's (inventor of Java) website, which I can't seem to find anymore...

Crepes may not be japanese per se, but the ones I saw in Tokyo I have not seen anywhere else, certainly not in Paris. It was more like a big "hand rolled" ice cream cone with all kinds of weird stuff in it. The place I am thinking of in that big "sunshine" Ikebukuro shopping mall also served ice cream, and was crowded with teenagers.

I got a crepe once or twice, in Shibuya. Mine had apples, cinnamon, and vanilla ice cream in it. It was yummy but unfortunately it was too much for me to finish

I've seen crepes of all types where-ever I've travelled in the world. Normally in the States I think the easiest places to find them are at carnivals or amusment parks.
Basically, crepes are from France and you guys are lucky...Im french
If you wanna make crepes : You need flour, milk, eggs, saltz and sugar.
Im not gonna give proportions, because i'll be lost with the conversions (gram -> oz etc....), so it's gonna be my way.
I put a big quantity of flour in a bowl (about 1/2 kg) then 2 eggs, milk, a little bit of saltz like 1/4 of a tea spoon, and 3 big spoon of sugar
Shake the paste, to get a liquid paste then add the third egg. You can still add some milk if the paste is not liquid enough. When it seems ok. Put the bowl to the fridge while an hour. Then take a fry pan, put some oil on it (its for not to stick the crepes on the pan). Then put some paste and put it on the pan (it must not be too fat nor too thick) , when the first side seems ready, retunr it and cook the other side. Now you have a french crepe
Sometimes the first and the second ones are messed up because the pan is not hot enough. So dont panic if you mess up a bit.

Just wondering whats everyone's favorite cuisine?
(ps if I missed a type of cuisine in the options to pick from tell me:))
And name your favorite dish if you have one
Mine is Chinese (HK style), reason being variety in preperation methods and the taste (if done correctly ) is awesome.
my fav dish might be lamb brisket (?) pot, Oh yeah yummy
