I don't know why you guys all assume these "fan subbers" understand Japanese.

You just take it for granted that they're typing out what the actors originally said.

I got suspicious when I was watching Shinsengumi and as the guy is about to commit seppiku the subtitle says, "Hey, where's the soy sauce?" Crazy

Indeed.....
Nice point, Geez....
We were commenting on the randomness of some remarks in some of the dramas.... Beaten
But I am grateful for their efforts regardless.... Bow

Currently watching Odoru Daisousassen, as well as Koibumi and Bus Stop...

I try not to watch dramas at the same time that share actors in leading roles, but due to the phenomenon I call the recycling of actors, unavoidably, all three of these shows have the same actors as leads...

Odoru Daisousassen has Yanagiba Toshiro who is in Bus Stop and Mizuno Miki who is in Koibumi...

Thanks to the Suspension of Disbelief, I'm able to watch them all with minimum confusion...

^ I'm probably going to watch Odoru Daisousassen soon because I'm still not able to see why Oda Yuji is as popular as he is.

But for now, I'm currently in the middle of the last episode of Liar Game. Because I've been watching this drama over the span of 2-3 days, the last episode is boring me slightly since

Thank you so much for this information...just goes to show how little you can count on Jdorama for good info...
I was very impressed by Kinya Kitaoji's performance in this drama...I call him the Great Stone Face in this but you can sense the raging emotion underneath...how fascinating to see him break through at the end...
Even if you're not a Kimura fan...this drama is worth your while...

Just saw the second episode of ''Karei naru Ichizoku'' on Ch 18 which is our new drama for Saturday night.

WOwwww.... this is good stuff. NO. This is great stuff. Kinya san who I have not seen before is enormous in this role..... I am transfixed wtih his emotional interpretation of the embattled banker..... My condolences to those who are so mired in KimuTaku hatred that you will miss a masterpiece of acting as well as a superb story and drama.
Oh. For me, of course, I recognize the greatness of KimuTaku and he has not dispapointed me; a huge actor as always.

New York is not a good place to live if you want to see doramas broadcast on TV, but at least I do get to go to the U.S. Open and see the tennis.

I just wanted to weigh in on the Takuya Kimura discussion. I agree with Ralph (or maybe even Ralph agrees with me) that he is a phenomenal actor. Polished, professional, perfect in every role he plays.

I know some of the people who post here most often think he is a Johnny One Note, but that is the opposite of what he really is.

He bends himself to the requirements of the script and the will of the director, and he often gets similar roles to play. That's hardly his fault as an actor, and as an artist, he seemed to enjoy playing adorable guys going after cute girls.

I recently saw A Million Stars Falling from the Sky, and I saw a darker side of him in a role that required a multi-faceted portrayal, and that's what he gave, and he was amazingly good.

More up to date, I just saw the last film of the highly regarded director Yoji Yamada's Samurai Trilogy. I had seen the Oscar-nominated Twilight Samurai and The Hidden Blade, and the third film, Love and Honor recently came out on DVD, and I got a copy.

Takuya Kimura plays the lead, and he is beyond brilliant. What an interesting choice for such a serious art house film, and what a performance the director elicited from this actor, who obviously aspires to stretch and develop his talent as he enters his mid-thirties.

So write off Takuya Kimura if you want to, but you'll be missing some superb acting by one of Japan's finest actors.
