I think they put garbage on TV regardless of where you live. Someone still watched it and then complained about it afterward. bleh What is going with this season, it has a great lineup but nothing hold my interest.

Inagaki, Koyuki to star in comedy series

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SMAP's Goro Inagaki and actress Koyuki will co-star in an original drama series on TBS this winter.

"Sasaki Fusai no Jingi Naki Tatakai" is described as a love comedy. Inagaki and Koyuki play the Sasakis, two lawyers with opposite personalities. They've been married for three years, but their heated quarrels lead them to the courtroom to settle a possible divorce, with the two representing themselves.

Their domestic battles are one of the highlights of the show, says producer Masanao Takahashi. He mentioned that the couple nearly gets into fistfights. Viewers will even get a chance to see Inagaki in a wrestling uniform (his character was part of his university's wrestling club).

TBS has lined up a supporting cast that includes Keisuke Koide, Wakana Sakai, Masahiko Nishimura, and Makoto Fujita as staff members of the legal office. Koji Yamamoto has been cast as one of Inagaki's university classmates, while Arata Furuta plays one of Koyuki's close friends, a gay masseur.

Filming begins at the end of November. The show will air on Sundays at 9:00pm, starting in January.

Will Goro smile or just look pissed all the time like he normally does?

YAY! KOYUKI! How long has it been since she came in a drama? I can't wait. I think this drama will start with huge ratings!

I suspect Goro's character will be similar to the one he played in Busu no Hitomi ni Koi Shiteru. He's going to be the nice, refined guy while Koyuki will play against type. The casting just doesn't sound appealing.

Kamenashi to star in Rumiko Takahashi adaptation

This winter, NTV is airing a drama adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi's manga series "One-Pound Gospel." The drama will star KAT-TUN's Kazuya Kamenashi.

"One-Pound Gospel" combines sports, romance, and comedy. Kosaku Hatanaka (Kamenashi) is a skilled boxer who turned pro at the age of 19, but he finds himself facing a string of defeats due to his inability to control his appetite, which always puts him in a heavier weight class. One day after losing a match, he wanders into a church where he meets a naive, fledgling nun, and he immediately finds himself interested in her.

The series is scheduled for broadcast on Saturdays at 9:00pm, starting in January.

Hachimitsu to Kuroba(Honey and Clover) Drama!!
Chika Umino's popular "Honey and Clover" is the latest manga series to be adapted to television. It was turned into a movie in 2006, starring Yu Aoi. This time, 15-year-old actress Riko Narumi will be taking over as the lead character, Hagumi Hanamoto.

"Honey and Clover" follows the lives of five college students and their love triangles. Hagumi is a talented artist in her first year, even though she appears to be much younger. Toma Ikuta has been cast as Yuta Takemoto, the lead male character. The remaining main cast members have not yet been announced.

The drama will air on Fuji TV at 9:00pm every Tuesday, starting on January 8. Filming starts near the end of this month.

What heavier weightclass? So not credible! Only CGI will make me believe this.

I'm becoming more and more disappointed with the quality of J-dramas as of late. This season, I'm only watching Kinpachi Sensei after trying out the first episode of all the other ones and just not finding them interesting. And even Kinpachi sensei, if I had something better to watch, I would not tune into this.

I'm glad to see Koyuki's back doing dramas again...but Inagaki Goro?! He cannot act, and I've only seen him in medicore dramas (Busu no Hitomi ni Koi Shiteru) so I'm not liking the sound of this at all. Any of the other SMAP members would've been fine---anyone other than him. But I guess since Koyuki's already worked with pretty much all the other SMAP members, there's only Goro left? And what's with the increase in lawyer/doctor dramas lately?

I think they have mis-quoted his role in the drama - he's not a boxer, he's the punch bag. Twisted

Some of us have lamented about this in the What Are You Watching thread as well... With the growth and popularity of the dramas they seem to be getting thin on plot and more focused on fast-tracking idols for ratings... Sweat

Of course he can. He's been given all those puppet-without-strings roles, where he displayed perfect how a piece of walking wood-work looks like. Inagaki is magnificently in those. hehe

Tamaki, Ayase star in "Deer Man" drama

Fuji TV has announced a new drama series titled "Shikaotoko Aoniyoshi," starring Hiroshi Tamaki and Haruka Ayase.

The bizarre comedy is based on a novel of the same name by Manabu Makime, which was nominated for a Naoki Prize this past summer. Tamaki plays a good-for-nothing teacher who gets assigned to a girls' high school in Nara. He becomes a "deer man," working to prevent the downfall of Japan under the orders of the deer of Nara Park.

Ayase plays his partner, a teacher in the social studies department that is a "history otaku." In the original story, her character was a man, married with children.

Fuji TV will begin filming in mid-December. The show will air on Thursdays at 10:00pm, starting in January.
