with iTunes, for instance, you can choose (in the preferences panel).

My choice of 192kbps is a compromise. With 320kbps the files become rather large, causing a problem in uploading and storing on my side, and downloading for others. As most of our forum members are probably going to listen to the music with MP3 players and earphones, 192kbps is really good enough.

I downloaded from Philly's upload while waiting for my CD to arrive and those seem to be 320 Kbps rips:

That said, even at this rate you can hear distortions compared to the CD. And the Iryu 1 OST 256 Kbps rips have big time distortions; mp3 is just crap when it comes to music with a big dynamic range (comparisons done via a CD created w/ the mp3 files vs the real one, using a Marantz DR17 CD player/recorder, Musical Fidelity X-Can headphone amp and a Sennheiser HD 650 headphone; and also listening directly to the mp3 files on the computer).
Thx to thtl, I'd a chance to listen to the Abarenbo Mama OST. May be because I stopped watching after ep. 3, the music while fine IMO still can't really be compared to the Galileo OST, which I like more and more upon repeated listenings. It's a pity that they didn't include all the music from the drama else it would probably rank up there w/ the Iryu 1 OST in my books.

I agree with you, it is not Hattori-san's best score to date, even though the main theme is catchy. Moreover, 32 minutes is quite short, wasn't there any more music? You hear less in Nodame and the CD is longer!
Thx to thtl, we fortunately have Juken no kamisama OST: though very similar to Nobuta's score, it is quite novel and very interesting. I think I shall listen to it repeatedly in the weeks to come
Hope someone will upload Swan no baka... (sigh)
Regarding Galileo, maybe the remaining music will be included in the movie OST? That's the only hope...

I have a soft spot for Juken because of similar experience in elementary school, but I didn't find the music all that engaging (there's only 1 or 2 tracks I like).
As for Galileo, I think part of the problem is the 1st 5 or 6 tracks are taken up by Fukuyama Masaharu's music, which doesn't leave enough room for the complete score.
which one did you get? do you mind uploading the whole ripped CD?

The normal edition w/ 3 tracks. See my edited post about d-addicts; they've the normal edition as well w/ all 3 tracks.
It's taking up too much of my bandwidth since I'm currently using bittorrent to download/upload some 1280x720p files which takes forever...gomen...unless you want the 320 kbps version and theirs aren't...
