Ayumi Hamasaki deaf in left ear
Fans of pop star Ayumi Hamasaki were surprised on Friday by a post on her fan club website revealing that the singer has gone completely deaf in her left ear.
Hamasaki mentioned that she had her ear checked last year. Her deafness was confirmed, and doctors said her condition was not treatable. The loss of hearing had started as early as 2000, when it forced her to cancel several shows.
Hamasaki said that she will continue her singing career as long as she can still hear with her right ear.

i love the girl, but i wasn't shocked.
i was shocked at how she sucks ass at singing live these days. but i wasn't shocked at the deafness coz i knew there was something wrong.
if i were her i'd retire and spend my rich a$$ at the spa everyday.
nice info sam, a kinda sad one though
yeah i knew you will not be suprise at all.. in fact im right your already familiar with her deafness.. but can i ask.. what exactly happened to her?.. must be pretty hard.. and i do agree, she must retire already.. but still poor Ayumi..
and in the opposite side.. no wonder you dont like her that much anymore.. because the way she sing..
looks like Orion was shocked also.. _________________

actually i don't know.
(don't say it has anything to do with plastic-surgery )
i only realized that at 2005 her voice was still fine, at 2006 she kinda lost a little bit of her touch, and at 2007 especially after the break-up she kinda changed her music style and released a couple of singles which i thought was crappy. Her Together When... single was great, but when she sang live, it was like so bad she went all off-note. Her newest album GUILTY was so horrible i thought it was the worst album she ever released (check it out yourself if you don't believe me , but the song Mirror is okay). And i don't know whether it's not in yet or it didn't reach the sales but i definitely haven't seen it in the Oricon charts.
but she's worked hard enough. and like i said i think she could spend everyday in the spa with a rich a$$ like that. I mean, she once actually accounted for 42.6% of Avex's income !!!
maybe it's time for Ai-chan to sit on the throne _________________

This list was apparently taken from Asahi Geinou (a weekly entertainment magazine), but I don't know how official these numbers are. Anyway, here's the list with their annual income (in yen):

73-year-old announcer remarrying
Wed, January 9, 2008 (6:11pm EST)
73-year-old free announcer Fumio Yamamoto is marrying for the second time, it was learned on Tuesday. He is thought to be the oldest celebrity to get married in Japan.
His fiancee is a 43-year-old divorcee with two children. The pair actually first met in the 1970s, when Yamamoto was the host of TBS's "Kodomo Ongaku Concours" and the woman's older brother appeared on the show. She was in kindergarten at the time. Yamamoto later served as the emcee at her wedding 14 years ago. They met again last year and a relationship developed.
Yamamoto was previously married for 34 years, but his wife died of a stroke in 1995.
According to Yamamoto's management, the couple plans to register their marriage in April. A private wedding reception is said to be scheduled for later this month.

I'm surprised that Ueto Aya isn't higher in the rankings considering that she's a crossover artist.....
yeah but she's the youngest on that list, i think, so top ten is pretty darn good. well she did have a concert tour last year, don't know if that was calculated in this survey....
