Oh my. Brings back some memories. My good friend back in elementary school had an Akita. His name was Bunji. That dog lived till he was 15 years old. Nut Felt sorry for him as he was so frail before he died.

Personally, I like smaller dogs. Big Grin

I love ALL dogs. But for me I prefer medium-large because they are fun to wrestle with, hehe. I don't really prefer toy dogs. They are cute and all, but they are pretty hyper and small, plus I'd be scared of stepping on them. My sister's Akita is 100 pounds and is a female. She's very calm but stubborn, and kinda submissive for an Akita. Her name is Panda, she reminded us of a bear but Kuma didn't sound feminine and all other bears we thought of were brown (she's black/grey/white). Mr Green My sister has 2 other dogs, one is a Pit Bull/Boxer mix. Also very sweet Wink The other is a Pit Bull mix also, but we don't know what else. Possibly part Jack Russell and something else as well. My sister's house is like a circus with all those dogs, hehehe.

My Chloe is a German Shepherd/Siberian Husky mix. She's about 65 pounds (I put her on a slight diet and she lost 3 pounds Sweat), all of our family dogs are very smart and sweet hehe If we ever get a dog lover thread going, I'll post pics of all Mr Green

Sorry but I feel funny teaching any of our dogs...uh..."chinchin". Shake Head

Ahoy and welcome! I hope you have a good time at the forum. I'm just gonna tell you what I tell everyone else. You can't learn Japanese from a website. This forum should just be used as a reference and not your primary tool for learning Japanese. Just study hard and basically, it just comes down to how much you want to learn Japanese. But don't worry, it'll come in time! Just study and don't give up! Nice to meet you!

Maybe someone should make a pet pic thread? Sounds interesting enough. And I'm sure that the majority of users have pets, so it's not like it'll be a "minimal reply" kind of thread.

Cool! Big Grin Maybe we should create the thread then?

*edit* Kouseiya made the thread. Big Grin Now you can post the pics of your cats!

*edit again* There was already a thread for pets. Should be in the General section.

We watched a documentary on ancient Japan (in English!). The word "kondo" came up. This has nothing to do with a condominium, ne?

And how come "kome" means rice, when the Spanish has "come" (pronounced the same way) for "eat"? Is that weird?

Heh. I was watching The Ten Commandments the other day and one of the Egyptian characters in the movie was named Baka, which in Japanese means "stupid"... I always chuckle when I hear it. hehe

I won't say what it sounds like when they say the name "Sailor Venus" on that live action sailor moon show.

I just die laughing every time.

yeah, being that in JPNese there is no equivalent 'V' pronunciation, so out of the JPN tongue comes the B sound, which may sound like a P. hehe
