Hmm ... that's weird. How come I can't find "Tiger and Dragon" on Jdorama? Does it have a Japanese title or something?

You have to type "&" instead of "and" Smile

Hi there. I'm not quite a newcomer, but I am a lapsed Jdrama fan. I've watched only a handful of dramas, mostly stuff from the mid-to-late 1990's. I'm looking for a gateway back into Jdrama, but not quite sure where to begin. I'd really appreciate any suggestions for some good, must-see, recent (within the last five or six years or so) dramas that would be a good start.

Thanks alot!

I'm sounding like a broken record, but first and foremost is Nodame Cantabile, bar none... Victory! Peace!

And I will add Nobuta wo Produce, and Ichi Ritoru no Namida (One Litre of Tears).

I was wondering also if anyone know of and can recommend any series on social welfare?

Ack! I ended up watching Hana Kimi. Damn. It's funny though, partly cuz I can totally relate to the setting. I lived in a boys dorm in my high school days too ... though we didn't have a girl living with us, hehe. The girls dorm was just a few meters away though so it was all good. Aah good times.

Sorry I'm gonna bug you guys again with the same question/request. Any recommendations for comedies out there that do not involve high school would be much appreciated. Thanks!

try,"sayuuki","nodame cantabile"

Big Grin

Not an exhaustive list by any means...but those were picks that I thought were exceptionally good, of shows that came out in the last few years.

Hi everyone, it's me again! Just wanted to ask for some recommendations on light hearted dramas. I'm not really in the mood for heavy tearjerkers at this time. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks! Big Grin

Have you watched anything since you last asked?

There's been a parade of suggestions since... Smile

haha, I guess I've seen most of the suggestions ^_^; . Yikes. I've tried some of the suggestions but wasn't really drawn much or just couldn't find em Sweat . I figured maybe I should broaden my jdrama filter by asking about light hearted dramas instead of strictly comedies ... though the differences may be minute. Sweat

What you need to do is specify what shows you've seen so ppl don't recommend you shows that you've already seen. Give a little, get a little.

Hmm ... well I could list em but some of the titles escape me. Let's see ...

Nodame
Nobuta
Gokusen
GTO
Kekkon Dekinai
Bambino
Densha
Nodame
Hana Kimi
Hana Yori
Last Christmas
My Boss My Hero
Beach Boys
Hotman
Long Vacation
Lunch Queen
My Little Chef
Yamato Nadeshiko
Shota no Sushi
Virgin Road
Double Score
Oyaji
Engine
Hero
Pride
Good Luck!
Beautiful Life
Love Complex
Summer Snow
Otousan
Orange Days
Big Wing
Yoshitsune
Attack No. 1

There are some others but I can't remember them. I'm just looking for some light hearted dramas, preferably the more recent ones if possible.

It would have been easier to include them in your profile here...for posterity...

but since you listed them here...let's give it a go...

Light-hearted dramas huh?

I'd recommend

Attention Please

Tiger and Dragon
Kisarazu Cat's Eye
Galileo
King's Restaurant
Shotgun Marriage (Dekichatta Kekkon)
Utahime
Haikei, Chichue-sama
Bengoshi no Kuzu
Kuitan
Brother Beat
Koi ni Ochitara
Suekko chounan ane san nin
Itsumo Futari de
Golden Bowl
Mukodono
Trick
Shomuni

That's a few for you to contemplate.
