You're referring to the annual 24hrTV-program from three years back.
It's a charity program to raise money and that's hosted by popular celebrities (2006 it was KAT-TUN, last year Takitsuba), and in 2005 it was by Shingo & Tsuyoshi; the rating that year was 19%, highest ever to-date.

I have a feeling he broke up with her. He's a very busy man and he doesnt have alot of time in his hands.. I dont hear news about him and her anymore. unless you guys know something XD

Desho!! Its like...what the!! The first couple of times he said it i was like wow he must like her alot. but then like its so constant that its getting annoying!! It kinda reminds me about Iijima Naoko and Yamaguchi Tomoko because i remmber he used to like them. So maybe its just that he's a big fan of her? :S :S
I donno if its an act of showing rebellion...but seems like he's trying to get at a point. Its like a puzzle kinda of thing. More like, poor man was really stalked towards the end of 2007 when there were some more than "the usual news" about them in the internet and the "entertainment press" (as they call themselves.. *huffs*) thought it'd be the story of a year to take the relationship up to the tabloids for real.
And by bringing his co-star (who is cute and divorcing and with whom he's got really good chemistry) to the picture at that moment, the tabloids suddenly got something else to speculate.
Which, imo, was a wise move from Shingo (but I still love Nakai more. I love it when he plays with the media so damn effortlessly!).
But as you said, it's been getting a bit over board lately.

I don't think it's wise at all, if he's really trying to cover up his new girlfriend, by using his co-star's name on the air. It's very inpolite to Yuko, and I don't think Shingo would do something like that.
I heard 2 versions of the "mokugeki" at the end of 2007. First, that she is Shingo's new common girlfriend (there were theories that he broke up with his longtime gf since 2004-2005). Second, that it was a false "mokugeki" considering on that night, it's impossible for Shingo to have a date with anyone coz he was suppose to be on Bara's filming set. And that the couple that was seen by people were just a hostman looking like Shingo, and a pretty woman like a model
All I want is, I'd really like to know the truth already. But I guess, it's impossible xD So I just have to be patient^^
I'd like to say that everything he said about Yuko was a lie. But that face sketch he drew was a proof that, at least, he thinks highly of her and he respects her. And I got that from a psychologist who had analyzed the sketch^^

When shingo was on mechaike about a yr ago for his saiyuuki movie, if you lose the game they would give that person a "secret picture" and the pic is a pic of the loser's private life where that person would want nobody to see. well, shingo lost the game and he did get a picture but it wasnt a picture of himself. it was a picture of one of the other saiyuuki members. ( i think chohakkai) although normally it would be a picture of the person that lost.
ANND when he was on mechaike around 2003 or 2004 for NINxNIN, he got the picture and he was outraged because it was a picture of himself. when he was on mechaike for saiyuuki, he showed the other people the picture because it wasnt him. BUT when he was on for NINxNIN he didnt show anybody his pic.
and this "private life" pic is most likely a pic with another women/man. so the pic that shingo got during NINxNIN was obviously a pic with another women. (prolly A-san) however, if he was going out with her they would give shingo a pic of his private life when he was on mechaike for saiyuuki but they didnt...

In the latest Josei Seven released 2 days ago, there was an article on Goro-Miho, titled "Inagaki and Kanno, A Married Couple-like Date". And there were also pictures of them taken.
Early this month, April 2008, Goro and Miho were seen in a Chinese restaurant in Tokyo, at night. According to a costumer who was also there, without asking Miho, Goro ordered the foods for her like he already knows what she wants. And when they started to talk, they laughed at the same timing.
I wish I have the magazine, just reporting based on the first paragraph of the article on Josei Seven's website x)

Early this month, April 2008, at one night, Inagaki Goro(34) and Kanno Miho(30) were seen having a date in a popular Chinese restaurant in the Minato area, Tokyo.
"Without saying anything, he ordered the foods for her like he knows what she wants. And when they started talking, they were laughing at the same time. They look like husband and wife," (a customer in the same restaurant)
Apparently, they visit this restaurant for about 2-3 times in a month. Most of the time, it's Kanno bringing her family members together with her.

Apparently they didn't only show themselves in this chinese restaurant, but also at an Edo-mae Sushi restaurant at Chuo area, Tokyo.
"It was only Inagaki-san himself visiting this place before. But right now, he always comes with Kanno-san almost once a week. I saw them frequently, but for me who don't really follow the entertainment world, I thought they were just a regular married couple, at first," (a frequent costumer)
There was also this testimony.
"Kanno-san's favorite is a Valencia bag, and we saw Inagaki-san once in a Shinjuku departement store buying one. It must be a present for her," (a fashion-related person)
The two met in Sommelier drama in 1998, and then their relationship was found out in 2000. Since their met, it has been 10 years. They have been together for so long, just like a married couple. Recently, their way of talking gets more and more resembling each other, too.
During an interview for "Sasaki Fusai" drama, Inagaki said, "I like things clean, when I get home and feel tired, I'd still clean up the garbage and divide them properly,". In another magazine interview, when Kanno was asked of her way of daily life, "In any case, I clean and clean," she answered. They both also said that they use aroma candles to rest and refresh themselves.
While Inagaki said that whenever he cook Japanese foods he'll cook the rice himself, Kanno published a private picture of the cooked rice she cooked herself in her website.
About marriage, Inagaki said this year, "I was not interested before, but lately I come to think that children are cute,". While, Kanno said in a new commercial press con in February this year, "My seniors already has tight schedules with job, home/family and hobbies. Now that I'm in my 30s, I'd like to be like that too,".
Do we hear the wedding bells? Kanno has turn 30 so it's just obvious that both has started to think about marriage.
Not just the fact that their relationship runs smooth, but also the fact that there has been continous Johnny's talents' marriages. So, we'd like to look forward for these two's wedding as well.
Kanno will be acting in an NHK Special Taiga Drama that will run for 3 years starting in Autumn 2009. There's a possibility that they will register their marriage until then, although it's also possible that they'll get married far in the future. In any case, let's pay attention closely starting this year to next year.

Thanks for translating that article Yanie. There were so much talk of SMAP marriages last year and then nothing about Goro and Miho since then I thought that they might have broken up. Whether they get married or not it's good to see that they're still together. They're such a kawaii couple.

Ah, kawaisou da ne. I feel bitter about Shingo's feelings towards Yuko. He sounded madly in love with her. He must say those "aishiteru" with all his feelings IMO Was Yuko really aware of his feelings?
I'm so glad that Goro and Miho's relationship is going well and steady. If they are to marry, Smapies will be happier ^.^

I did this summary for a friend, so I thought I might as well share it here, and I do enjoyed it the most when SMAP members talk about their dramas^^
Last night, Kimura talked about past dramas in the occasion of celebrating CHANGE that will soon air and LoveGene reruns. Quite fun. In the opening he talked about how he just got an information that Love Generation is recently being rerun on FujiTV. He recalled LoveGene as being the drama with the most "freedom" he has ever done. Coz they didn't use the script most of the time. (so I guess that means they did lots of ad-lib?? All the Teppei-Riko bickers??^^)
There was a dart board on the studio and there's his drama titles on the board. He'll throw the dart and he has to talk about the drama which title got hit by the dart^^ If he hit the center, he'll just play again CHANGE's themesong by Madonna^^
The first he hit is... Long Vacation. He said the most interesting part is that when he started to play the piano, people will be amazed, "ohhh... you can play the piano! sugeee~~!". But actually he can only play that one song^^
Oh, an info, that Sena's piece for Minami has been made into an R&B song with that piano melody as an intro by a Japanese R&B group, and the song will be released in June. But he played the song last night anyway^^
Next is Sorakara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi... he talked about his first met with Sanma was in this drama. Sanma always laugh on TV, so the fact he had been able to see Sanma's serious face during the filming, was such a precious experience for him.
Next... Wakamono no Subete. Personally he thought the filming quite make him nervous and the atmosphere felt cold. But still it was fun. The first time he met Fuka-chan was in this drama and he thought, "Fuka-chan kawaiii na!". His first met also with Takeda Shinji and Suzuki Anju and also Hagiwara Masato. Then after so many years, he met Hagiwara-kun again in Karei-naru. It felt so different coz in Wakamono, they were pals and young. But in Karei-naru they talked seriously and wore neckties. He also said in this drama was his first met with Nakae Isamu, the director he worked together with so many times (GIFT, Sleeping Forest, Sorakara, Pride). Also the director of Bara no nai Hanaya.
Next... Love Generation. "Okay... frankly it hit LoveGene.... but I've talked about it already in the opening didn't I? What? I have to talk about it again? Once again? Why? Mou ii darou--!! (it's enough already) Memories talk... I don't think I have much... aa', well... this is just about my personal problem, though...". Hehe... why is he so reluctant to talk about LoveGene once again? x)
Anyway, then he talked about a certain scene in front of the Shibuya station when it was snowing. Suddenly he felt his stomach hurt very much. The next day, he went to to the doctor, "Kimura-san did you eat oyster?". "aa! Yes, I ate it in SmaSma!". I'm not sure whether or not its his allergy, but it's his problem now, so he didn't think he can eat oyster for the mean time. But on the next filming during dinner together with Riko's family they ate nabe together and there were oysters inside the nabe, he thought "yabe!!". LOL! He endured himself and just ate it anyway^^
Next one, he hit the center! So he played Madonna's song again. The last hit, he hit the center again, LOL!^^ So he played CHANGE's themesong 3 times in one day, haha~
By the way, on last week's WUS, 18 April, the topic was CHANGE behind the scene. When he was talking about Abe Hiroshi,
"As for Abe-san... well, it must be since HERO... but actually... there was a Josai members gathering. And it was not just for Abe-san, but also Omatsu. To congratulate them, we gathered. I guess that gathering was the last time I see him, before we work together again here. In the gathering we pestered him to show us his wife's photo, at least we want him to introduce her to us, even though we don't get to meet her. But he said, "I don't bring her picture...". But since he's gonna be working with me from now on, if there's a chance he'll show it to me during CHANGE filming,"
I'm so happy that the Josai members of HERO gathered just to celebrate Abe Hiroshi and Matsu Takako's respective marriages! They're really close, ne~ I hope they'll have a gathering once a month, until HERO's sequel^^ _________________

thank you so much for the WUS translation. I did ask that question some time back. I have seen some of the very early translations but never any since then. I have heard some of the actual radio shows but in Japanese and of course they were recordings. I am a total admirer of Kimura san so even his voice in his own language is great. I have been listening very carefully whenever he uses English and I think he has really improved. also Shingo is very good with his pronunciations in English.
there is never enough of SMAP or the individual members for those of us who are not living in Japan. Big Sigh.
