The famous lift scene! Helluva scary and suspense! Sweat
Cleverly made! In the end, a predictable and watchable movie.

Are you insane? Asian horror films are the scariest as they go way too far with the visuals and the psychological stuff. What is scarier in your opinions then? Don't tell me American films, because they always make everything too dramatic.

Um, maybe its because I am older now and things dont scare me as easily. That might be why I wasnt scared watching Ju-on or some of the other asian horror movies. The movie that scared me as a kid was Stephen King's IT.

Oh, man. Stephen King's It. Did you get to read this one, Skullnight? Tell you something . . . this book . . . man . . . it's the only novel I had to put down and go outside to breathe fresh air for 10-30 minutes at a time. Not because it's such a huge book; the relentlessness of that clown, that clown's actions, ends up suffocating you.

King . . . he might be a pop' culture novelist? But, he can sure take your soul for a ride.

I never ended up seeing the mini-series on TV or the video or DVD version.

Asian horror films just arent scary. I have watched all of the ones I have seen in the dark, all alone and I have never felt scared.

That's true for me too...I haven't watched an asian horror film that frightened me.

I agree that the miniseries IT was scary as hell (especially the first part) - mostly cuz I always had a fear of clowns. They're creepy looking. The book was pretty scary as well....

Totally agreed. As a kid, I hated clowns after I seen that movie! It was crazy!
Speaking of which, I wonder how I would've felt about Japanese women if I seen "Ring" when I was a kid.
Heh, and how I would've felt about Japanese kids if I seen "Juon" when growing up. (Probably wouldn't have had any friends!) Beaten

I just saw on some entertainment show that Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy) is going to star in the American version of Ju-on: The Grudge.

I think Ringu is much scarier. But drawn of the Dead was pretty good too.

i've seen Ringu 1 and 2. and also Juon 1 and 2. i really didn't think any of the 4 movies were scary. they all provided some shock value but i wouldn't say it scared me. but b4 everyone gets on my case, i do have a *knack* of predicting plots as well as endings to movies. but if u ask my gal-friend who saw those movies with me, she'll say Juon 1 and 2 scared her more than Ringu 1 and 2. she's a big horror fan and she held on to me so tight while watching Juon, i thought i was going numb from the lack of blood flowing thru my body hehe

i found the ringu series was more enjoyable, exept 0. It didn't really seem to fit in, trying to ride on ringu's sucess and cash in with disapointing results. I'v only seen ju on 2: the grudge, and it was pretty good, but kinda messed up. The only asian horror that I have found scary was a tale of two sisters, theres just so much tension between the sisters vs. their father and step mother, right away you can tell the fathers got a dirty little secret that he's hiding. spooky stuff man Evil

Ringu was scary the first time. Now when I think about it, it's kinda funny. The part where she crawls out of the TV, what would happen if I only had a 13" hehe
