I realised I have a special liking for dramas that revolved around food..
such as Shota no Sushi, Lunch Queen, Antique...

so I was wonderting if there are anymore such dramas that also revolve around food.. haha... arigatou gozaimasu!

The ones I know of:
Kuitan 1+2
Oishii kankei http://jdorama.com/drama.292.htm

Haikei Chichiue-sama revolves around a restaurant but I actually don't remember how much they focused on the food.

I'm going to add another one: Itoshi Kimi e - it's about a man who's about to go blind.

I did download the Extras... What a disappointment: I thought it was "making of" and/or NG stuff, but it was just some footage of a bunch of goofy guys being filmed in one scene of Seikei Bijin...

Groan. Puppy Dog Eyes

Judging from the file size, I think you may like these more (660-800MB per episode)

ClubBox search Decoding problem? Put `l

My experience is that you need to join that particular ClubBox before they will let you download. There's some text to click on the top right corner of the ClubBox page.

Oh god, been so busy this year that I haven't had a chance to watch the latest dramas. The latest one I've watched was Honey and Clover, which was rather 'meh'. I guess manga adaptations are better when they are funny.

I may sound ancient and nostalgic, but I am looking for a drama that gives me the feeling that I used to get when I watched the older dramas. Like Ice World, Long Vacation, Beautiful Life etc. [ I just realised all these dramas are about 10 years old now..I feel sooo old Shameful Cry ] Are there any new dramas that give you guys the same vibe?

I suppose with most dramas being flooded with boys from Johnny's, there isn't much to expect. Sad But I do enjoy the occasional drama with a JJ guy or two.

I would like to know this too because a lot of dramas nowadays are just about violence, flash, pretty boys/girls, and have no substance at all. It's really sad because Jdramas were really great when they actually had a story to tell.

So far, the only ones I can think of that came out within the past few years are:

~ Ashita no Kita Yoshio (suspenseful like Ice World)
~ Bara no nai Hanaya (suspenseful like Ice World)
~ Daisuki!! (haven't seen the whole thing yet, but it has that sweet quality like old school dramas)
~ Ruri no Shima (recommended!)

I also recommend Daisuki!!, one of the great jdorama I've ever seen. the storyline is so good and all the actress/actors did a very good job in here. not all jdorama nowadays have a very great quality like this. If you love suspenseful drama, you have to watch M no Higeki but this is not a new one. LIFE is also good for me coz the story reminds me a lots of Ningen Shikaku.

Okay, from the webpages I flicked through. I think I'll go with bara no nai hanaya and daisuki. Let's hope they're as good as some of the comments said!

Thanks cori and fye!

An old drama that "feels great" to me would be Kimi ga oshiete kureta koto. So far, that's the only drama that gave me the nostalgic feel. The main actor is not a Johnny but since you don't mind that...

Boku dake no Madonna have similar theme to Long Vacation. I love it almost as much as Long Vacation. More complicated (which is better than Long Vacation) but the main female character is less preferred (Hasegawa Kyoko is great. It's just there's something about her character's "secret").

Overtime has similar theme too (and by the same writer of Long Vacation I believe) but I haven't watched it so I can't really say.

You're welcome. Smile If you haven't checked out Ruri no Shima, you should because it's a really great one too.

Great dramas, especially KgOKK...., but I think the original poster wanted newer dramas, otherwise I would've mentioned those two. Smile
