just completed kinpachi sensei 7 in a marathon hehe haven't done one of those in a while but this series was definitely worth it. somehow, the casting and acting is so heartwarming one can't help but be moved by the extraordinary acting/storytelling by the characters. despite all the copycat school dramas out there, kinpachi sensei really hasnt lost any of its lustre even by this 7th season which is more than i can say about a particular dead horse Beaten in its 3rd

Finally finished Sweet Home. That was a fun drama and I loved the characters. I have to admit that even though that nosy neighbor irritated me at first, she became my favorite character towards the end. Such a catty, yet vulnerable character. And hilarious too. I loved Yamaguchi Tomoko's natural way of acting. Just a simple thing like doing everyday chores while she's saying her lines just makes it seem like she's not acting, but she actually is the Wakaba character. Danta Yasunori was another favorite as a man who lost interest in his wife (gotta love that scene in one of the interviews hehe). I gotta put this on the highly recommended category. Applaud

I thought Nogiwa Yoko also turned in an excellent performance as the imposing kindergarten cram school teacher.

Re: Yamaguchi Tomoko--while a lot of people on this site probably associate her with Long Vacation and, to a lesser extent, Double Kitchen, I think Sweet Home and also Ohsama no Resutoran (where she had a supporting role) were better written and better executed series.

The development of the characters is what makes this drama a gem. I'd be interested to see if you'll enjoy it, since it's been quite a favourite among females. Wink

I also quite enjoyed Beach Boys. But I do gotta say that my favorite part was in the theme song- when they walk out of the water and strip off their shirts! Beaten

Fa real! Tho Hiromi takes his shirt off quite a bit. Drooling

OMG, I totally agree with you. Long Vacation was the first drama I saw of hers, and I was an instant fan. But there's something so natural in the way she plays her roles in Ohsama and Sweet Home. It's like cori said before, it's so real you forget that you're watching an actress.

On Topic: Alrighty, so I finished Beach Boys. w00t! I'll have to check to see what's next on my watch list, but I'll have to do it tomorrow. It's nearly 1:30am here. Oyasuminasai! Muack

Re: Nogiwa Yoko--she was great, but she always has that imposing attitude, no matter what role she takes on, so to me, it was just another one of those roles. Still, she's one of my favorites, but I felt that the other characters impressed me more.

I haven't watched Ohsama no Restaurant yet, so I will check it out whenever I get that series. From what I hear, it's great, so I can't wait to watch it (once I'm done with the 10+ drama queue that I have Sweat)

Damn, you sure finished that quickly! Shocked I wish I had time to watch dramas that fast because I have so many that I want to watch, but it seems I can never get to it because I don't have the time to watch them. Sad

On topic: Last episode of Joudan janai! It's about freaking time that this stupid show ended. I couldn't have cared less if they didn't end up together at the end (either Oda Yuji & Ueno Juri or her parents in the drama). It might've made it a better show if they didn't since the cynical side of me wanted everyone to be unhappy instead of the mushy ending I was left with. I had no attachments to any of the characters, well, except I thought the neighbor's kid and one of Ellen's sister's "relationship" was kinda cute. That aside, this show was a pile of crap and everyone associated with it should be ashamed of themselves for it. Overall, this was a stupid story with stupid characters and stupid me watched the entire thing. bleh

Thank goodness I'm now watching something with my Shiro in it and it's totally making up for all this crap I had to put up with. In love

Me too. Long Vacation was the first drama I saw her in, and till now I still think Tomoko Yamaguchi is probably the most naturally effervescent japanese actress to ever grace my tv screen. She awesome and I miss her. Gotta rewatch LV for my Tomoko fix. Any good working download links for Sweet Home?

Finished Koi ni Ochitara. Nice drama, I enjoyed it. Good themesong too. Stuck on Episode 6 of IWGP. Another good drama, I liked it much more than expected. It's a pity Kobozuka Yosuke's acting career was hindered by his real life troubles....his King stole the show from the other leads. This is one charismatic actor but he may never reach his full potential.

Finished Stand Up! Really inane show, but squeezed some laughs out of me. Suzuki Anne did well in this. She's a cutie pie.

Downloaded the last 2 episodes of Last Friends, and the edited SP, but am reluctant to watch it after reading all the reviews here. Shake Head

Watched first episode of Tomorrow yesterday (even writing that was fun to do! hehe ), and not surprising it blows Code Blue out of the water. Whereas Code Blue is seemingly miscast and lacks true focus on how the characters should be in their positions, Tomorrow really does feel like there's an enigmatic City Hall rep that is reluctant to become a doctor again (extremely ironic that Shiga Kotaro and Kishibe Ittoku from the Iryu series are both playing almost reverse roles in this show, hard to see Noguchi sensei so...happy? Beaten hehe )

Thinking about trying out Maou soon, depending on if I get the time to download (that or I may just watch it streaming at work or something *shrug).

Finished Monster Parent ep 1 and now am on ep 2. It's not bad but I don't know if I "like" it or not. I don't know if I will be able to take the frustration of the good teachers and the horrible parents all season.

I also watched Tomorrow ep 1 last night. Much better than Code Blue but I wasn't fond of Kanno Miho's acting. She was overdoing it just a little too much.

I watch them at night, which cuts into my sleep, but it's a habit. Last night I had like three hours of sleep because I kept watching the episodes. I don't usually watch much during the day. That's Xbox time. Beaten

I think Sweet Home is hard to find online for downloading. You may have to trade for it.

On Topic: Speaking of fixes, I need to get my Takeuchi Yuko, so I think I'll watch Bara no nai Hanaya. My sister really seemed to enjoy it. Thumbsup

Such a drag. I'm down to my last couple of episodes of Muri na Renai

http://jdorama.com/drama.1275.htm

I've been watching Natsukawa Yui in movies for a very long time --the first movie I saw her in was Wana with Yamaguchi Tomoko back in the early '90s -- and I've always liked her.

But in the last couple of years she's just found another gear.

I thought she was fantastic in Kekkon Dekinai Otoko. But if anything, she's even better in Muri na Renai.

"Kekkon" was the better show. "Muri" simply doesn't have the writing, or the completely rounded cast. But with help from her pal Suzuki Sawa, Natsukawa has simply put this show on her back and she's carrying it as if it were as light as a feather.

I really don't want this to end.

I'm on the third episode or Bara no nai Hayana. Why haven't I found my Florist-san yet?! Smitten

Mind you, he's SO sweet and kind, that I'm sure it'll start to annoy me later. Beaten

I'm currently watching Tokyo Tower and Bara no nai hayana. I've only seen the first ep of Tokyo tower so I'm still waiting for improvement, but after seeing 4 eps of Bara no nai hayana I'm starting to lose my hope. It's sweet and all, but seriously, it makes me fall asleep... It's a real sleeping pill.. Sad

If you're watching the Tokyo Tower with Mokomichi Hayami, that's just a remake of a movie by the same name with Joe Odagiri. The dramas not bad, but Hayami is not (and probably never will be) Joe Odagiri. (IMHO You're better off watching the movie)

O no, really?! I'm gonna start epi 4 later and I haven't fallen asleep yet...
