Actress Mao Inoue will star in a Fuji TV drama special titled "Hanaikusa," taking on the role of a geisha for the first time.

Title Ԃ
Title (romaji): Hanaikusa
Viewership ratings: 12.4
Broadcast network: Fuji TV
Broadcast date: 2007-Nov-23
Air time: Friday 21:00

Synopsis

Inoue plays the role of Mineko, a young maiko (apprentice geisha) in the Gion district of Kyoto. The story is loosely based on the autobiography of the famous retired geisha Mineko Iwasaki (who was one of the sources for Arthur Golden's "Memoirs of a Geisha"). Iwasaki is also involved in the drama by personally coaching Inoue in the ways of the geisha, and training the cast to speak the unique Gion dialect.

Even though this SP aired way back in November, SARS stepped up and subbed it. Big thanks to them! People who have seen Memoirs of a Geisha will notice some differences between the film and this drama. Glad to see more of Mao-chan's dramas getting subbed Victory! Peace!

Yeah like Hana Ikusa actually has Japanese women, not Chinese actresses, playing the central characters Rolling eyes

I enjoyed watching Hana Ikusa. Gion, Kyoto has an historical charm that is undeniably Japanese. I'd love to go one day. I thought Inoue Mao did a pretty good job playing Mineko. An entertaining work. I could have easily seen this go on for at least a few episodes as opposed to a one off film.

D-addicts for the torrent. There's a regular and HD version there. Haven't seen it for direct download anywhere yet.

sars indicated they didn't want it up a crunchyroll, and I suppose by extension any streaming site. But it is up at Veoh, where you can download the full version if you have their software Wink It's around 1.4G
