I recently finished Medaka and Beginner and liked both a lot. Both had a variety of regular characters from very different backgrounds. Are there other dramas like these two with regular characters from all walks of life?

I guess Densha Otoko could be one... Under One Roof may be counted as another one since the siblings all grew up separately under different environment...

I can only think of Mukodono and Haruka 17. Neither of them masterpieces but okay to watch once. Mr Green

The manga/anime Beck is better than both. Victory! Peace!

Thank you...I tried watching Mukodono but could only get within 10 min of the 1st episode might continue watching it if I run out of stuff to watch and don't have anything to do (this could be a while as I have recently gotten addicted to Kdramas, Cdramas, and TWdramas) will give Haruka 17 a try too Smile Thanks

Check out the 12 episodes anime Paradise Kiss about fashion - same Mangaka!
Perhaps also the anime Senual Phrase (Kaikan Phrase) is about a band but has aged a bit.

Somewhat except the band in question is made of up of young men, not women. It's pretty fun to watch, if you liked Nana, I think you'll enjoy Beck.

If you have any more questions let's discuss in the Anime Thread.

I tried to think really hard but the only one I came up with was Ushi ni Negai wo: Love & Farm bleh abt students with different personalities, doing an internship at a farm. I gave up after one episode. Sweat

Maybe Hakusen nagashi comes close? ItLs a about 7 kids, 5 in their last year of highschool, one who has to work and goes to nightschool and one who works.

You mentioned Under One Roof, a similar drama is Hotman. 5 siblings living together, they all had the same Mom but 4 different Fathers. And mega-kawaii Nana Yamauchi.

Thank you both for your time and recomendations. Smile

I have just downloaded the first few episodes of Hakusen Nagashi. Will give a try later. Watched the first few episodes of Hotman a long time ago, maybe I should give it another go. Was probably too picky back then.

You could try Engine - it's online at Crunchyroll http://www.crunchyroll.com/group/CRSeries_-_Engine

It appears to be about car racing, but the main story involves a bunch of kids in an orphanage. It's more about the kids than anything.

Ruri no shima?
Boku to Kanojo to Kanojo no Ikiru Michi (this may be hard to find)

Young children as in below age 12?

There are a few other family dramas around, but for young children, that's all I can think of at the moment

Maybe Aikurushii and Hotman series. There's a little about family and children in the recommended Bara no nai Hanaya.

Hitotsu yane no shita. Both seasons are excellent, though I preferred season 2. SARS just released ep 1 this past week of season 1. It would be very tough to find season 2 though. Probably only as a tv / vhs rip if you can find it.

watch PRIDE. it's the best of any drama i've seen, and i'm still not quite sure why. the acting is great, the dialogue is intelligent, and the character development is solid.

YATTA!!! w00t!
