welcome!
I think the following dramas all have guys in love with a girl.
Tiger and Dragon - funny
Honey and Clover - slow but I thought it was ok
Long Love Letter - sci-fi stuff
Orange Days - college setting
Nemureru Mori - mystery
Sekai no chuushin de - guy falls in love with a girl who gets sick
Lunch Queen - about three brothers in the restaurant business

If you're really pressed to find dramas, and don't have the bandwith to download them from bitTorrent sites such as D-Addicts, I recommend you go to the trading threads/subforum and fish around there...you'll probably have better luck getting the dramas you're looking for.

Boku dake no Madonna immediately comes to mind...
Boku no Ikiru Michi
Algernon ni Hanataba o
These have guy in love with girl but romance is not the main focus. I recommend them, if you feel like watching something serious.

Haikei Chichiuesama - Ippei (Ninomiya Kazunari), the main character crush on a mysterious French speaking girl (Kuroki Meisa) was pretty hilarious. I love listening to his inner thoughts. His narration was lovely. The progress of their romance was pretty sweet.
PRIDE - The very manly ice-hockey player, Haru (Kimura Takuya) pursues the beautiful and confused Aki (Yuko Takeuchi). Lovely romance and kick ass chemistry!
Since you've watched a lot of Matsujun's drama why not another one:
Kimi wa Petto - Unconventional love story of a human pet with his hawt lady master. Funny and sweet.

I personally enjoyed it - the characters are adults (in their 30's), dealing with mature circumstances, and the drama is somewhat stylish (great wardrobe, for one thing) and there are insightful preludes at the beginning of every episode.
Since it's a romantic drama, it does have that cheesy factor and there are moments when you want to knock some sense into the characters' heads, but if you enjoy romance, it should be worth the watch. The OST is great and Esumi Makiko can act.

At least you have sidewalk cafes and beer gardesn...we have cracked sides walks and empty beer cans on them for the most part!
Hmmm...I don't really watch Taigas...so I'll have to let someone else chime in on that one.

Which one would you recommend (knowing that the one with Takky isn't probably for me)? |
The two that I have seen recommended here in the past are Musashi and Toshiie to Matsu.
I tried watching Toshiie to Matsu but it didn't really grab my interest. Probably because it is a Taiga series (difficulty understanding the ancient/historical Japanese's way of thinking) rather than anything wrong with the drama itself. I will probably try watching it again.

My vote would go to Musashi... Some parts do drag on a bit, but it's still a very good story about Japan's most famous samurai...
If you're interested in an abbreviated version, check out Inagaki Hiroshi's Miyamoto Musashi movie trilogy: Samurai I, II, and III.

Cheers Beem-sama and xploring, Musashi seemed the most interesting of recent Taigas

Oh well, if youLre feeling unwelcome in your hood you can always watch a Kudo Kankuro drama and then run around the block singing Beero Beero Beero!

Hm. I was wondering if I could get recommendations with a happygolucky/comedy/romance drama.
I enjoyed..a lot. @__@ And I'm running out.
Seiki no Mikata
Hotaru no Hikaru
Nodame Cantabile
Gokusen I - II - III
Zettai Kareshi (Had a hard time finishing it. Kinda draggy)
First Kiss
Puzzle (2008)
Yukan Club
Tantei Gakuen Q
Hana Kimi
etc. ._. I think my genres are kinda swappy. They switch but, it has..something in common. I'm hoping.
Edit: Ah~ And I forgot to add. I'm picky about the time frame that the drama came out and ended. I don't know why but old-ish (in my definition of terms) are farther from 2006. So. 2006-present, please. _________________ Kyaa, it's all about the addiction revolved around dramas, anime and music that captivate and destroy people's lives.
Been victim to.
