Big Ben not terrible, but the 3 picks were damaging and the Steelers fall to the Colts 24-20.

The (apparently) overrated Chargers barely defeat the Chiefs, 20-19.

San Diego's gotta be one of the most disappointing teams this season. Sweat

Even though it was so many months ago ... I can understand why Pats fans still might not be fully over that loss ....

It WAS one of the biggest upsets in NFL history! Pats were steamrolling everyone ...... until they faced The Great Eli. Bow

That's the great thing about the NFL .... even 6th seeded WC teams have a decent chance of winning it all (i.e. '06 Steels & '08 Giants). It's so unpredictable that it's common for bad teams one year to quickly get good the following year.

.... excluding Raiders and Lions, of course. Doh!

You should add Matt Leinart to the list of USC chumps.

It shouldn't be unexpected though ....Chargers were disappointing last year as well. They've gotten steadily worse since getting upset by the Pats in the playoffs ... LT has declined, Norv is still head coach, and Merriman got hurt and the steroids finally wore off. Shake Head

In 1970 USC traveled to Birmingham to play Alabama in a game which had an historical impact on college football. It was the first time all-white Alabama faced a racially integrated team (one-third of SC's team was black). The Trojans smashed the Crimson Tide 42--21; all of SC's TDs were scored by blacks. Alabama's legendary Bear Bryant used this game to convince Bama boosters, fans, and administrators that it was time to integrate football in the Deep South.

Technically, the Giants were a 5th seed, not that it's a big difference, since they still ended up playing 3 road games on route to the Super Bowl.

Yea, you're right ... I just remember that the odds were stacked against Pitt and NY as wild-card teams, but they still won it all through mostly upsets.
