I watched Shinobi and it wasn't really..um..great. I know I like both main characters but I didn't really enjoy it or feel touched or sad of the movie like I felt watching Naruto or Samurai X lol

Ah, I never knew there was a name for it. Still, I was kind of confused why the robbers were getting chummy with them and calling them "Crusher," "Irene" and such. I mean, I get that Ando Masanobu's character was obsessed with that anime, but not why Kaneshiro agreed to it, especially since at the beginning, they were defensive, scared, and trigger-happy. Maybe I should watch those parts again.

And I watched another movie! Wow, two days in a row...I think it might rain.

Yup, so I saw Welcome To The Quiet Room (aka the Japanese version of "Girl, Interrupted," imo). This was the first time that I saw Uchida Yuki in a serious role and she impressed me a lot. Aoi Yu did a fine job at stealing the movie. Ryo, as the ice queen nurse, was just aggravating and I wanted to punch her out. And I can't believe that Uchida's character had such awful taste in men.

This movie was a bit frightening in the sense that there's a fine line between sanity and insanity. Normal reactions to upsetting things could possibly call for a tranquilizer and bed restrains in a mental ward. Somehow, I think that everyone in the world should be committed.

I thought that this was a good watch and recommend it if you like semi-depressing shows with a bit of dark humor. 8/10

Hi, does anyone know where I can find a list of the latest Japanese Movies (including cast lists and synopsis)? I tried imdb, but the data there is very limited. I tried searching for Japanese Cinema websites, but not quite sure which one to refer to (or they don't have any cast information).

Anyone know any websites similar to a Japanese Movie equivalent to JDorama.com?

xerith, there's a web called "crunchyroll.com" where people may download the movies, read the synopsis, know the casts, its ratings and even discussion about the movie.

my recommended Japanese movies so far are:

death note 1 2 & 3(i love the casts)
tokyo friends(story about stuggles)
Be With You(very romantic n nice song from orange range)
tada kimi wo aishiteru(the bestest movie ever, aoi miyazaki's in it)
swing girls(very hillarious and passionate...u would laugh till the end)
battle royale 1 & 2(but most prefer the 1st)
taiyou no uta(it's not that touching but the songs are beautifully made)

Thanks to 8thSin's fansub I was able to watch the film Tenkousei (Transfer student). It's a quirky film about old childhood friends who literally have out of body experiences...it's fun and quirky with a healthy dose of melodrama.

It reveals quite a bit regarding expectations of gender, filial piety, and traditional familial expectations of parent toward child.

A very easy film to watch.

I'm trying to remember the name of a Japanese movie while on a trans-Pacific flight earlier this year.

It starts with a man and a woman trying to decide if they should visit an old movie theatre that is closing that they used to visit in their youth. You then go back to the 1940s(?) where a young man (different than above) goes to the city to look for work. He goes to this theatre and eventually get a job there. After a while the owner of the theatre passes away, and the story is about the quiet love that develops between the young man, the widow, and movies over the course of the next few decades, ending back in the present.

i decide to spend all nights by watchin' japanese movies, i mean GREAT japanese movies, i've watched taiyou no uta, one litre of tears, tokyo boy, death note 1 2 3, be with u, tada kimi wo aishiteru,battle royal 1 2....n i've planned to watch 'way to the blue sky' and always : san chome.........now for the remaining nights, could u suggest me a REAL Fabulous JmovieS for me

Well it depends what you like, I recently saw (and enjoyed) Hana and Alice about two teenage girlfriends and Only you can hear me about a deaf boy and a lonely girl having some kind of mental connection albeit living in different towns.

One I don�Lt recommend is Nightmare Detective which I watched last night. A really mediocre horror flick.

On the homepage right now is the trailer for "Ten Ten" or "Adrift in Tokyo". It's kind of an odd, quirky movie. Basically two guys walking thru Tokyo, but I liked it, and if you're a fan of Joe Odagiri, I'd definitely recommend it.

I recently watched this as well. Wow, I enjoyed it so much. It just felt like everything was done right. I thought Renbutsu Misako was so good that it's prompted me to start watching her new drama Nanase Futatabi

Yeah I was impressed with the casting and the film itself as a whole. It was really engaging so much so that the film seemed to fly by ~ the pacing was quite good.

hurmmm...i enjoy movies like "tada kimi wo aishiteru", "be with u", death note 123, battle royale( prefer the second one ), hana yori dango final , lovely complex, taiyou no uta n "way to the blue sky". im kinda go for romantic, comedy, encouragement, n movies directed from mangas or novels...

owh hana and alice, ive heard about daT film.......later i check the synopsis first

dun't worry i dunt really have interest in those kinds of movies ---> Nigthmare detective or samurai...i only adores kame in kindaichi

I recommend "Love Letter". Kinda old though (1995), but I would definitely say this is a better movie than the more popular "Be With You". My old time favourite--I never feel tired or bored watching it over and over again.

The defining moment is the ending It really distincts this movie from another similar romantic movies.

I just saw "Ten Nights of Dreams", the 2006 movie based on Natsume Soseki's stories... and either this was an artistic triumph that I'm just too dumb to have understood... or this was a really crummy movie.

And while I'm in here... I didn't think much of Sabu's "Unlucky Monkey" staring Shinichi Tsutumi either. It was just... dull.

Couldn't have been worse than Survive Style 5+...this was the most asinine film I've ever seen. This has to be the worst movie I've seen Hiroshi Abe star in...or anyone else for that matter.

last night i watched 'pikanchi life is harder' starred by Arashi's groupmates.....though i'm their fan, i was a bit disappointed with the story elements.....i hate that they used "Sex" and censored things to attract viewers, i dunt know if its part of johnny's stupid storyline.....for all viewers, this is a don't watch movie!!!

Just finished watching Ozu Yasujiro's last film, An Autumn Afternoon (Sanma no Aji)... Typical Ozu theme: A widowed man trying to get her 24-year old daughter married before she becomes an "old maid."

Not overly dramatic or awe-inspiring, but it's a gentle, delicate, warm-hearted little movie... Interestingly, there's a lot of drinking in the movie: you'd almost think Japan was an alcoholic nation from this movie.

Worth a look.... The torrent is available at asiandvdclub.com
