Arifureta Kiseki episode 4. No stunt casting, no non-acting Johnnies, no flashy direction, just a superb drama about people drawn together after an attempted suicide. You get the feeling the characters are real people leading real lives and it has a tangible sense of melancholy running throughout. The script and cast are excellent and I don't think anybody is under thirty. It's very slow and subdued, and has some of the longest scenes and individual shots I've even seen in a j-drama. I swear that there was a single shot of about 5 minutes in the 3rd episode. This is the first Winter '09 drama I've seen, and I'll be surprised if there is a better one.

Saw the first three eps of Arifureta Kiseki , like Cerebus said the acting is good and so the charcters feel real. However, I've felt the show very slow and boring. I was seriously yawning halfway through ep 2. My main issue with this show is that there's a lot of unnecessary dialogue between characters and I feel this is what makes the show slow. Also the dialogue between the two main characters feels redundant. They seem to go in circles saying the same things over and over. I hope the dialogue improves in the next eps cause I haven't watched Yukie in a while and I don't want to drop this show.

^Is Jinnai Takanori overacting in this one? I like his work, but he really does everything to extremes in the shows i've seen him in..

His best overacting role was in Stalker Sasou Onna, where he was being stalked by this girl. His bug-eyed, deer-caught-in-headlights look was just so hilarious. In fact, that drama was so awfully bad that it was good. A marspeach must-see, for sure! rofl

On topic: Watched up to Psychometrer Eiji episode 3.

Overall I don't feel like he's overacting. In certain scenes he does seem to be, but overall it's not that bad. But maybe that's because I've seen him do worse (overacting)

Yes he is and sometimes he does get a little annoying, but that's pretty much the only weak link in the show. The rest of the cast more than make up for this, especially Nakama Yukie and the ever reliable Yachigusa Kaoru.

I agree 100% with this statement. That drama was absolutely THE worst drama of all time IMO. So laughably bad that I had to watch it to the miserable conclusion! Though I wouldn't say bad is good in the end. I watched it when it aired so I had no alternative. There was no, I'll just download something good, in those days.

And yes, the bug-eyed looks they called acting were something that can't even be described. The stalker was Hinagata Akiko. How she could have a career ( though not much of one, at least in dramas ) after that Showgirl-esque piece of garbage is simply amazing!

On topic- Just watched Choujin Utada ep 4.

I thought it was cute. Pretty stupid and silly but it was just nice to watch all the "attempted" murders (no one died on the show) and happy endings all the time.

I'm just about finished with Koi no Chikara.

http://www.jdorama.com/drama.674.htm

It occurred to me at one point that I always seem to find myself sitting there smiling when I'm watching Eri Fukatsu work.

Wonderful cast, a throw back to TBS's Romantic Work Comedies of the mid 1990's.

That's because Eri is that type of actress, you can't help but love her work.
