I realised last night that I never finished Atsu-hime - so I watched episode 41. I spent about 10 minutes trying to work out where I had seen a new character before, but eventually realised it was Ichikawa Mikako, who played Kyoko-chan in Kuitan 1 & 2. She looks different in the traditional kimono & hairstyle Smile

That happens to me all the time. I remember when I was watching Kyoumi ga Tsuji it took about three episodes before I recognized Kyoko Hasegawa. Bonk

Its a great watch. Everyone I know had trouble getting through the first couple of episodes, but the payoff is worth it!

I wish I were at ep 41 and had another 9 hours or so of Atsu Hime to watch. Shameful Cry

I'm working my way thru the massive list of jdramas and others on that Live Journal site... that's where I found the Thai movie "Hormones". Boring but interesting to see Thai actors and the Thai countryside.

Because I took to Karina in Love Shuffle, I've been trying to find her again. Most of her dramas do not meet my criteria. To wit: Recent with excellent video qualities, good subs, Japanese culture and vivid pictures of Japan's contryside, NO unhappy endings with the star dying junk, romance with comedy a bonus, cute youthful idols a la Kuninaka Ryoko, Miyazaki Aoi etc.

Found this Karina drama, Ushi Ni negai, a little slow so far but nice video and good subs so I'll keep going with it to watch Karina.

I usually d/l the first epi from Live Journal to see if it meets the paramters of my criteria... in doing so I found this and though it's back to school, so far it has my attention:

Taiyo to Umi no Kyoshitsu

I considered that and maybe some day I will. Right now it's not in my criteria... I want comedy romance.... not social stuff.

It also has Saki Aibu. If she doesn't qualify as cute, no one does.
