Is the Fight Club book good as the film?

That's 12 years worth of knowledge more than me, girl. Bleah

I've only read the first two chapter so far of Fight Club, so I dunno yet. Beaten

Just finished When Pride Still Mattered by David Maraniss. It'a a biography of Vince Lombardi probably the greatest football coach ever.

Interesting that he got into coaching almost by accident. He was 2 years out of college working as a bill collector because he couldn't get a job anywhere else. (this was the depression) The quarterback of his college team was coaching at a high school and looking for an assistant. He asked some other guy that had been on the team and that guy couldn't take the job but told him, "Why don't you call Lombardi? He's looking for work."

The rest is history.

I checked out the pages on dough.

Reminds me of the TV show about how things are made. I like it.

OMG me too! Though this is my fifth reading of it! I always re-read the entire series whenever a movie is coming out. w00t!

Before this, I read a book that my student published. She's 17. The writing style is good... but she needs to really develop her skills in creating solid characters and plot. With a little practice, I think she'll do well.

Before THAT, I read the Twilight series. NEVER AGAIN! What a terrible terrible writer. What a terrible terrible story. What a BUTCHERY of the Vampire. Anyone a fan of vamp-lore would burn Twilight into non-existence.

You're about 12 years above the target age for Twilight fans Wink My youngest is 14 and is obsessed.

I don't think it's age. I have a lot of students who feel the same way I do. There are so many better books for teenagers out there. You really should read the series.

The protagonist is the most pathetic female character no girl should emulate.

On a side note, I DO understand why girls are crazy for the books. It's mindless romance and angst that any healthy teenage girl would love.

But I still think the books are "dumb" and our girls should be directed to better reading. With better characters. Who are not pathetic. And desperate. And suicidal over boys.

I can see why I should read the series, but there's so many other books I would like to read first that wouldn't be a waste of my brain cells Smile

You're either a reader or you're not. My dad and my brother are like you: they will happily read things like magazines on a subject they are interested in (for my brother it's fishing) but reading fiction - forget it. I would read a lot more if I had the time Puppy Dog Eyes
