We watched the first episode last night both knowing that the 'ratings' and rantings have not been too good. We enjoyed it, but I can see where the writer's and producers are making huge mistakes in the process with too much jerky-short MTVish clips. Kim-Tak's character should have been less of a pre-teen in antics, more subdued with a bit of a practical joker.
The 'set' is pretty impressive with the technology, but it kind of overwhelms the story and characters at times. Otherwise, it's been enjoyable and we'll continue to watch, seeing Gackt coming in previews looked cool. Last we saw him was Furin Kazan which he did awesomely.

An attempt to stay relevant with the younger crowd?

From somewhat of a novice's POV (understatement I don't know who half of the people mentioned above are) I generally like this show. Its pure awesome. In fact I watched episode 2 a couple of weeks for Gackt simply enough, and I was drawn in. But not just to this show, but also to Asian dramas on the whole. I'm completely addicted. Still, this one is my favourite and I am a regular viewer.

Are people really not watching this show because it features celebrities they don't like? Thats a tad silly in my eyes. Especially if you like everything else about the show.

When I first strarted watching jdorama, I liked basically everything that came from japan too, but it doesn't last long (well, it depends of the amount you watch I supose). But yes, they do make some shitty series too, and this is one of them, at least the 3 first episodes, that is.

Quite possible.....but I"m not sure if that will improve the show and ratings though.

I didn't quite like what i was watching so far from this drama, until the recent episodes with Nakame Yukie. She really gave me a creepy and eerie vibes... she did play the eerie-ness of a split personalty quite well.

Owing to popular demand from this thread(just kidding), Ichikawa Ebizo is reappearing in Ep7 (not kidding). This will probably cause some to skip a heartbeat Jumpie Ichikawa-san, the defibrillator ?

Nakame Yukie beats Gackt when it comes to psychopath portrayal. Who says you can't be kawai and eerie at the same time ? I was at the edge of my seat most of the time.

And thereafter I had to wash off that episode from my memory with a dose of Doraemon just to get a good night's sleep.

That's surprising, seeing that Blekt is a loon in real life... You'd think it would've been natural for him.

yeah.. i was shocked to see Ebizo back again for episode 7. haha.. that's good.

now I have my fav two characters from the show - Nakame and Ebizo.

they should have kept nakame on the show and let her terrorize 99-san

ohhh popular demand! wow! haha shall slowly wait for episode 7 to come then. Smile bombs and terrorize seems to be the dominator for the next episode.

i agree, nakama played the role of akiyoshi kanako really well, i guess it is all in the eyes, when gackt played the role, i thought it wasnt convincing enough cause his eyes totally gave him away.

LOL, but tsukumo doesnt seem terrorized by her, he seems to pity her more.
stupid bitchy and narcissistic students and teacher who refused to believe her when she told them the tale. :/

lol I do adore Gackt, but I don't think he played a convincing psychopath. He was too styled I think, it was Gackt playing Gackt. Mess up that hair, your suppose to be crazy!

Well, Nakama Yukie is Sadako afterall ... hehe hehe
Ebizo reappearing.. hmm.. pulling this series to from the no need to watch stacks of pile.

crazy gackt from ep.2 only portraying himself I guess. He done those wacky stunts quite often doesn't he?

frankly speaking I don't know what's the big whoha over Gackt in episode 2. I don't find his appearance in that episode any breathtaking. But i do like Koyuki, so episode 2 is saved. lol

episode 1 case I already forgotten what it was all about, i just remembered that episode was super draggy, but I do like the cute opening by Ryoko

episode 3... erm...

episode 4... abit too long and messy towards the end. don't quite see the link between the characters

episode 5/6... one of the best so far..

and very very sad to say, ayase and hiro are so underrated in this drama. the production should not have invited them as part of the cast. I think it would be better if they are one of the guest appearances.

totally agree. everyone was SO going about Gackt being in one ep and was preparing myself to be see something impressive of him (do not actually know him very well, only seen him in some MVs) but when his role was over, i was like "is that it?" Shocked

so tempted to see ep5 and 6 raw but i think i will wait for subs to be out.
as for Hiro's character, as i said in my previous post, according to producer, his character will show more of his masculine side in future eps. i just hope that he was not talking about the last ep. bleh

OK I confess I like this drama! I like the performances of Kimura Takuya, Gackt and Ichikawa Ebizo! Sometimes when you watch a TV drama it is not about the perfection of, or lack thereof, of the individual actors. It is the feeling you get when you are finished watching it. Did you get enjoyment from it? Did it hold your attention for the full show? Do you want to watch the next episode? If you can answer yes to these questions, then to me it is enjoyable. There are some American TV dramas that are long running, big hits, with well known actors in them, but they never grab me and hold my interest. I am looking forward to the next episode of Mr Brain.

@Peggy or brad2 - Why thank you I am glad you like them. I was just thinking about changing the flower avatar to an actor's photo, but now I will keep it since it makes you feel happy. Smile

I watched the first episode of this the other day, and to be honest it was a little slow at the beginning. In fact, I thought it was going to be a romantic comedy. However when it did pick up, I found myself slowly getting hooked. I guess dropping well-known actors left, right and centre helped too..I can see myself liking this jdrama alot Smile
