4.) NON=STYLE
5.) SANDWICH MAN
6.) BLACK MAYONAISE

these guys are just awesome and absolutely hilarious! Plus they`ve all won the M1 Grand-Prix which is one of or the most prestigous award a comedian can get in japan atm. (apart from FUJIWARA)

I don't think those veteran comedians are the most respected. Most feared maybe. They have lots of seniority and they have the power of Yoshimoto Kogyo behind them but they seem to have plenty of haters judging by the all the anti threads on 2ch.

I used to like Akashiya Sanma but as I got older he just got way too loud for my tastes. Shimada on the other hand I've never liked. He's really full of himself, although I do like Hexagon. Downtown is another kombi I've never liked. I was a Tunnels, Ucchan Nanchan kid.

M-1 Grand Prix is a prestigious comedy competition but if you're not into mazai it's not very entertaining.

KAZ, out of curiosity, is manzai your favorite type of owarai?

Well yeah in japan, these comdeians are possibly the most important cus they hve their shows which the other geenin (comedians) can attend to.. hence the rating is quite high all the time..and as a Japanese, I know for sure that these are the programmes that people want to watch,,,at least me and my frends love it... the good thing is that the seniors and the young comdeians sort of blend in together nicely to create funny shows...hence shows like quiz hexagon, Lincoln, school kakumei and yeah manzai is the foundation for japanses comdey so i do enjoy it.

yoshimoto is only one of the major labels around but it is a fact that the seniors are to be most respected, especially in the world of comedy in japan. Yeah they wud have haters around but that just adds to the fun of it all???

Hanya zenzengungubun dance ftw! Dancing
I also adore Audrey. "Toos!" whatever that means.
As for female comedians my favorite are the Morisanchu girls. Totally hilarious.

I'm not familiar with the owarai terms much tho'. Is Haruna Ai considered as an owarai?

Lol. I thought Hanya and Audrey are the IN owarai now but I guess I'm wrong Bonk

There are some comedians I like but don't know their names. One particular guy is the short main host person for Gurunai and he also appears in Mecha Ike. That guy rocks! I also find the guys from Hanetobi to be extremely funny.

Shameful Cry

Comedienne Kameyama dies at 42

Fusayo Kameyama, a comedienne signed with Yoshimoto Kogyo, died in a Kanagawa hospital on Monday morning. She was 42. The cause of death was reported to be ventricular fibrillation, a form of cardiac arrhythmia.

Kameyama was a member of the 5th class of Yoshimoto Kogyo's New Star Creation school. In 1989, she formed a comedy duo with Masato Satomi (57) of The Bonchi. The duo broke up in 2001 when Kameyama got married and became pregnant, and she worked as a solo comedienne after that.

For Short Conto, I really like
Anjasshu (AWbV)
Itsumokokokara i‚j

Anjasshu never fail to make me laugh. I'm sad to see that they still haven't hit it big after all these years! Here's to hoping their big break's just around the corner. On a positive note though, I did catch Kojima putting his acting chops to the test in "Tokyo Sonata" (which was, by the way, very good!)

For Free Talk (for unrehearsed talk) I really like
Ariyoshi Hiroiki iLgOsj
Untouchable's Yamazaki iRj

Although Yamazaki can be a bit grating at times, it never fails to amaze me how he can turn a boring talk into a hilarious one. I can see him being around for a very long time just in variety shows alone.
