Can anyone recommend a comedy from 2008/2009?

I've liked anything with Hiroshi Abe in it. I particularly loved Densha Otoko and have to admit I really got into Hana Yori Dango.

I'm getting ready to give Uta no Oni-san a whirl and would appreciate any other suggestions.

Thanks!

2008:
- Shika Otoko Awoniyoshi aka The Fantastic Deer Man: This drama is very odd but awesome. It can be a bit slow at times though that didn't bother me. It has Tamaki Hiroshi, talking deer, mythology and beautiful scenery.
- 1 Pound no Fukuin aka One Pound Gospel: About a gluttonous but talented boxer in love with a nun. I personally didn't care for it but I know a lot of other people liked it.
- Seigi no Mikata: About two sisters. The older sister is evil and "tortures" her younger sister and somehow her evilness always helps out other people. Starts off cute and funny but becomes repetitive and annoying quickly.
- Yasuko to Kenji: About a guy who used to be the leader of a motorcycle gang but is now a shoujo mangaka. He also is very protective of his little sister since their parents died in an accident.
- Ryusei no Kizuna: My favourite from '08. KudoKan drama about three siblings whose parents were killed when they were little. Has a bit of angst but is pretty funny and really adorable. Nino is awesome and it has the KudoKan charm.
- Mendol: Lol Mendol. The awesomeness can't be explained. You just have to watch it.

2009:
- Ohitorisama: This drama is funny and adorable. I'm really loving it. It's very entertaining and Teppei is soooo cute. It's supposedly written by the writer of Kekkon Dekinai Otoko and At Home Dad so if you liked those dramas then I suggest you check it out.
- Samurai High School: Pretty funny. Has Miura Haruma being all samurai-like in a modern setting.
- Otomen: Manga adaptation. Fetures a guy who really likes to cook and all those frilly things but can't really be himself and a girl who kicks ass and isn't the least bit girly. Unfortunately only subs for the first two eps exist Sad
- Meitantei no Okite: SDKFJ:DRH:RHIHR I LOVE THIS DRAMA! Again it's very off-beat but totally awesome. It's about these detectives/police officers who are in a story/book but they know that they are part of a fictional story and... it's just really good! Matsuda Shota is very cute. Again the subs are on hold but hopefully it'll be done soon enough.
- Atashi no Danshi: Do you like Maki and reverse-harems? Then you'll probably like this.
- Mei-chan no Shitshuji: If you like Hana Kimi and Hiro in butler attire, you'll probably like this.
- Love Shuffle: The plot is barely there but it has some great characters and interactions. A fun drama for sure.
- Tokyo Dogs: This drama is really fun. The first episode isn't the greatest but Oguri Shun being a reserved and occasionally dorky cop and arguing with Hiro, his partner about Pinnochio's sadness all srs bsns and his OTP being an amnesiac Yoshita Yuriko who holds the key to his case and revenge = a great source of entertainment. It's a ton of fun.

I know this is very tl;dr but I hope the recs help!

Thanks for the suggestion.... I like Otousan and Kekkon Dekinai Otoko so I guess I'll check Ohitorisama ^^ w00t!

Waraeru Koi wa Shitakunai! It's a sweet and pithy tanpatsu...has a kind of "Love, Actually"-feel to it? I'm not sure because I've only seen snippets of that movie Sweat But it's a funny drama with 4 different stories converging to a hopeful but somewhat bittersweet ending w00t!

Thank you! I've added it to my list. Victory! Peace!

Y'know, I read that, checked it out and got sidetracked for about a week. I spent the past handful of days squeezing in an episode here and an episode there.

It was AWESOME! Oh, man. I watched the whole series and enjoyed it to no end. Matsuoka Matsuhiro was fantastic.

I'm looking forward to the rest of your list - I just started with Yasuko because it sounded interesting - but this one will be hard to top!

If the rest are half as good, they'll be well worth the time.

Thank you!

Eheh~ Somehow I got confused between jdorama.com and d-addicts XD I knew I had an account here! So I thought it was weird when I couldn't sign on at d-addicts (since I thought it was the same as jdorama.com @_@). So I made an account over there and here's what I just posted =3:

Right now I'm in major Nodame withdrawals! I just marathoned the entire drama series + SPs (I hadn't actually watched the drama, even though I loved the anime D: How silly of me...), and now I have an ever growing need for something to replace this gaping hole in my chest after the current ending! I physically and mentally cannot wait until the movie is out and subbed. T_T *fidgets*

So please, would any of you have any recommendations for amazing comedies (also, a touch of romance wouldn't hurt, though not absolutely necessary)?

What I've watched and enjoyed:
Nodame Cantabile
Hana Yori Dango
Kimi wa Petto (maybe...)
Liar Game
Stand Up!!
Ryuusei no Kizuna
Papa to Musume no Nanokakan
Maou
Love Shuffle
The Quiz Show (maybe...)
Smile
Bloody Monday
Shiroi Haru
Galileo
BOSS

I've also watched, and quite painfully so:
Nobuta wo Produce
Gokusen
Hana Kimi
Mei-chan no Shitsuji
Yamada Taro Monogatari

So please don't recommend anything like the immediate above, I'm sick of these teenage high-school dramas >< They're sooooo boring, repetitive, cliche... Something refreshing, entertaining and stimulating would be muchly appreciated. So that my brain cells don't feel like exploding with despair at the tedium and drivel of teenage high school angst ~

Thanks so much in advance! Big Grin

Tiger and Dragon
Churasan, but it's long, and you need to get to about episode 20 before it starts getting really good
King's Restaurant, it's old but definitely entertaining

All right the first thing that comes to my mind is Kekkon Dekinai Otoko, super fun, great acting and great plot, you canLt miss this one.

Others i think youLll like are:
Around 40(love/comedy story between an independent woman in her 40Ls and a younger guy who cares about the environment)
Hotaru no Hikari(super lazy girl suddenly gots to live with her boss)
My Boss My Hero(27 year old yakuza returns to school to finish highschool)
Densha Otoko(otaku saves woman in a train and then with the help of his internet friends heLll try to win her heart)
Tiger&Dragon(Yakuza member tryLs to learn Rakugo)
Kisarazu Cat's Eye(group of 5 friends become thiefs who steal from thiefs)

Hey everybody,

Kekkon Dekinai Otoko has always been my one and only favourite drama. Finally, I found something that I enjoyed - at least almost - as much: Love Shuffle. Well produced, nice actors, kind of funny, lots of Tokyo sights, a little love going on and also a few nice chics.

Naturally, I am on the search again now. If I really enjoyed Kekkon Dekinai Otoko and Love Shuffle, what else would I like??

To give you some hints: I also liked Sapuri, Tokyo Friends and Boku dake no Madonna as well as Tokkyu Tanaka 3 Go. Did not like Tiger and Dragon.

Oh, and although I watched GTO and Edison No Haha (which was ok), I'm not so much into High School kind of dramas.

Perhaps Golden Bowl, written by the same person who scripted Love Shuffle. He also wrote the somewhat darker Bara no nai Hanaya.
You could like Orange Days as well.

You could also check out Bengoshi no Kuzu - lawyer Kuzu played by Toyokawa Etsushi is also a difficult character.

Kekkon Dekinai Otoko is pretty awesome but i donLt remembrer any other dorama that resembles that. And i never watched Love Shuffle.

But if you like the likes of Sapurai and Boku Dake no Madonna(some of my favorites) you may enjoy: Long Vacation(very similar to Boku Dake no Madonna), Around 40, Oishii puropozu, Densha Otoko, Slow Dance, Golden Bowl and Over Time; none of this doramas are highschool ones so you can watch it without worry.

I second that recommendation on Golden Bowl, really a enjoyable light hearted drama. Victory! Peace! Along the same lines as Kekkon Dekinai Otoko is Top Caster, however it's a woman nearing 40 who is not married, problem with Kekkon Dekinai Otoko is that it's the best, you can only come close to it but never equal it w00t! ...just noticed Oishii Proposal in there, another good one, Kyoko's 2nd best role, her role in M Higeki was so good. Dancing All those recommendations Sorata made are good though. Applaud

D-Addicts: http://d-addicts.com/forum/torrents.php?search=joudan+ja+nai Victory! Peace!

They spelled "Jodan" differently: "Joudan." Sweat

EDIT: If you need me to seed (I have the raws only), lemme know. Victory! Peace!

That's my most common mistake with Japanese. Bonk

So it's only available raw or with Spanish subs... hmmm... My girlfriend is Vietnamese and doesn't understand a word of Japanese or Spanish (I don't understand Spanish either, and my Japanese is marginal at best).

Oh well, back to my search for a new drama...

Thanks for the offer of help! Bow
