ETA for the download of Otousan to finish is Memorial Day, Twisted so in the meantime started on 4 Shiami Tantei Dan. Pure fluff rofl but it seems entertaining, there's really only one sister who sleuths, Kaho, the youngest one, she's quite good. Applaud Didn't get favorable reviews but wanted to watch a less than popular drama, this was, only averaged a 7 rating. bleh

Uh, what's the Japanese name for the show?

That might be the reason why you can't find it.

You need to read the Posting Guidelines.

Merging with the "What Are You Watching Right Now?" thread.

I tried that, every time I go to Live Journal I'm on the Qword page, gave a link to a forum and that was it, bleh guess I'll just wait it out but after 3 days it's only at 23% for first 2 episodes, just may give up. Beaten

Naoko has some terrific shows out there.

"Otouson" with my favorite, Nakatani Miki.

"Tomoko to Tomoko" with the always brilliant Tanaka Misako

"Wedding Planner" with Kimura Yoshino and Abe Hiroshi.

"Hero" -- Well, truth is, I loved "Hero" but Naoko really only has what amounts to a cameo in one of the episodes.

"Messengers" is a great little TV Movie. A comedy.

She's made some clunkers, but along with "Bus Stop" these are the ones I really enjoyed.

Still downloading Otousen, Twisted but I found a good one with her in it from 1996 called Oishii Kankei, just watched the first 2 episodes, quite good, the real treat is having Miho Nakayama starring in it, this one looks like a real winner. Victory! Peace!

I finished Fumo Chitai this evening.

http://www.jdorama.com/drama.1463.htm

Really... a top notch drama. And I do mean drama. No comedy, no smirks, no pretty boys or sexy little girls. A powerhouse cast filled with grown-up actors and actresses, telling an interesting, compelling story.

I watched this one is spurts, as it was being subbed -- I couldn't wait for the whole thing to be finished -- and I noticed that without thinking about it I was obsessively playing my old Tom Waits tapes at work after each session of Fumo Chitai. And that's never happened to me before with a series. (Waits' version of "Waltzing Matilda " is the song that closes each episode.)

I also polished off Aikurushii last week.

http://www.jdorama.com/drama.935.htm

Aikurushii is a soft, sentimental family drama about an 11 year old kid... his family... his moribund mother... his wise old grandfather... and his friends.

I usually like a bit more comedy in my family shows... but this one was alright by me.

I'll remember "Fumo Chitai" for a lot longer than "Aikurushii"... but I have no problem recommending either to the over 15 crowd.

Eric Leonard

It sounds to me like you are describing "Visual Battle". (aka "OL Visual Kei") There were actually two seasons of that show. Click on the link below to get some background on it.

I still have two episodes to go on this one, guess I better finish it up.

Slightly off topic, a friend of mine once owned a used record store. Whenever it got near closing time and there were still a lot of people in the store, he would put on some Tom Waits. The store would be empty in a matter of minutes.

And if you don't have any Tom Waits, Sun Ra works just as well.

Up to episode 5 of Oishii Kankei, turned a little boring after the first few episodes, bleh watched too many of these as of late, need a intense, hard hitting drama to view next. Fingers crossed
