Ratings in general are no longer like they used to be. Takuya Kimura dramas always used to be higher,,,18% to 20% but this recent drama was not good at all.
strange casting
The highest rating I ever saw was for a taiga in 1988 and it got final rating of 39%
'TAKEDA SHINGEN'...I did not see it, but I am d.l from d-addicts. Very slow going. It is such a wonderful drama and such fine acting that I am not surprised at the rating.
Ryomaden was ratng higher than any other this spring. It seems to be going on at a slower rate. I mean in the episodes and the general tale.
Many times, that's not the best way... You sacrifice story/plot quality.
I dunno, a lot of the shows i've watched that have had lower ratings than 10% have been really bad....
(honey and clover, cat street, kami no shizuku, qed, majo saiban, konkatsu also dragged on a little and its ratings fluctuated from 8~10)
i dunno, looking at the shows i watch the ratings really reflect on how much i personally liked a show. the higher ratings, the more i ended up liking it. of course, not always. I mean, all the shows in the monday 9oclock slot do prettywell (except of course tsuki no koibito which was such a fail) but i couldnt get through tokyo dogs at all...
and if i didnt go by ratings, i would have never watched JIN, which is one of my favorites now. Same with shinzanmono... _________________

Well yeah, there are always exceptions.
To the contrary, there's that highly-rated dreck known as the Gokusen series...

Nobody seems to be interested in dramas abt the Japanese language - which I totally get. I wouldn't want to see a drama about my own mother tongue, yawn.
