Based on your comments, just started watching it, Matsuyama is great!! Cannot believe this is the same guy that played the total geek in Sexy Voice and Robo!!

Plus, you've got a great cast, Mimura, Ryo, Shiina Keppei. Applaud

I've been prompted to download this now.

Be advised this is definitely not a "warm and fuzzy".

No worries. I usually enjoy dark dramas.

Yay! So happy to have been able to pull one of you in! hehe

I think this drama was overshadowed by the star-studded Triangle in its original run. More people really need to see it! It's pure quality.

I found the music to be a bit overbearing in the first few episodes, but they seem to get it under control after the first half.

Spread the Zeni Geba craze! w00t!

Can I just say, I can not understand these praises at all.

I am really into dark and serious dramas. And that is exactly why I had to quit watching Zeni Geba after two episodes. bleh
This is so absurdly bad written.

Comparing it to Byakuyakou is quite an insult in my eyes...

Episode 1, Hotaru no Hikari 2.

Only four characters remaining from #1, but a few of the new ones are interesting...We'll see where they take this drama.. Big Grin

Aww way to go pooping on my Zeni Geba party! :< But all joking aside, sorry to hear it wasn't for you. Maybe I'm just too easy to entertain but that's not all too bad either lol.

Matsuken and Mimura had me completely floored. Ep 6 had me on my toes! Can't say that happens often when I watch other dramas.

Unrelated, but I noticed you wrote "Johnny trash" in your Atashinchi no Danshi review. It kinda amused me because there's not a single Johnnys boy among the cast. XD

I'm planning on watching Sexy Voice and Robo next. I'm excited for more Matsuken. This time in a completely different role. Big Grin

Watched Episode 1 of Odagiri's drama, Atami no Sousakan without subs.

I hope someone subs this, because someone at d-addicts said it was like a heavy Jikou Keisatsu with dark humor... Fingers crossed

Up thru epi 5 of Zeni Geba, this is still real good. Most actors say that playing the bad guy is a lot more fun than playing the good guy. If that's true then Shiina Kippei must be having a blast!!

But

I can't say I wholly echo your sentiment but I do get what you're trying to say. I have to admit that I also struggled to watch this drama, it takes quite a while before it hit full stride. The thing didn't even get interesting for me till episode 6 and that's more than halfway thru the series. There are some good things about it but the biggest roadblock would probably have to be Futaro himself... it's a bit hard to sympathize with his character; he's like this walking vortex of doom and despair. Also, I think this drama would've been better off if they had it set in the 50s or 70s, at least you can cross out reconstructive surgery and forensic evidence as factors in the story.

I can understand though why people find this show fascinating-- it's a far cry from the candy-coated idol led shows that one usually sees. Bonk

Awww Bbbut, now don't go ragging on non-Johnny trash. I happen to consider Seto Koji and Yamamoto Yusuke as pilot members to my Russ troll collection. Mr Green

Currently watching Pure and Koizora. Planning to follow it up with either Ashita no Kita Yoshio or Shikaotoko Aoniyoshi.

I'm a recent JDrama convert, this is about my fourth or fifth and I was looking for classics ... I'm currently on Ep 6 of Hana Kimi. It took me a while to get into it at first, the "comedy" parts were kiiind of annoying but once I got into I found myself giggling at most of the silly bits, and I'm def hooked on this one now as well.

I'm due. After 4 Japanese series that I simply gave up on... and a couple of Korean shows that made the "dreadful list" before episode 4... I'm due for a good one.

So I've started Shinzanmono

http://www.jdorama.com/drama.1517.htm

Abe as a homicide cop? How can it miss?

Re: Zeni Geba. I watched it a couple of months ago because I've become a Matsiyama fan. And Mimura is... well... MIMURA!!!

But about the nicest thing I can say about the show is... it was forgettable. Heck, I had to look it up just now to get a reminder of what it was about. My response, after reading the blurb was; "Oh yeah, that one. Blah.

Episode 1 of Nihonjin no Shiranai Nihongo , was a bit turned off by the characters, they're a bit 'extreme.' Sweat But I'll still check out the second episode.
