Lani Nishiyama, 2010 Nisei Week Queen

after looking at August's Sushi Today paper, and reading up on the profiles for each Nisei Queen Candidates, I was a bit surprised at first, because i thought a few of the other gal's hit the spot in beauty and background, but doing a double take on Lani, I can see why they chose her now, a beauty!

congrats to her!!!, I still picked Brynn, and then Jamie and Kelli, those are my top 3.

Did they crown Lani queen just today?
@B, i hope you can find someone to go, it was fun years back when we went, i just remember the lack of sake and food, but its all good, you got your cool Nisei Week T-shirt. Bonk

According to this article, her grandfather founded King's Hawaiian Bakery (that was about 60 years ago).

Always liked their sweet bread--onolicious. The company's no longer in Hawaii though--they relocated to bmwracer's neck of the woods quite some time ago.

WTF? So they divested themselves of all the Japanese reading material? That's crazy.

Doh!

I don't know whose idea it was to move the store and not have any Japanese media, but it's an epic FAIL. Beat You Beat You Beat You
