I should have used parentheses around good guy. Just a little twisted humor. When you look at the movie unemotionally, you realize that Potter, in his evil ways, was demanding realistic loan requirements. The Bailey's, on the other hand, were creating a subprime loan market. Bailey could get away with it because he likely accounted for less than 1% of Bedford Falls loan market. During good times the other 99%, likely controlled by Potter, produced enough money flow so he wouldn't go under with his flawed business model. When everyone did the mad dash on the banks, Bailey's only survived for that day. Had Potter not backed the banks, everyone would have come again for more withdrawls and bankrupted Bailey's. Ironically, when Potter tried to kill the Bailey business during the bank rush, he inadvertently saved it by keeping the Bedford Falls economy going, thus allowing Bailey to continue his loose montary policy. And in the end, he didn't steal the Bailey's money; that idiot Uncle Billy lost it. So the writers, in the attempts to make Potter as evil as possible, accidently made him into the "good guy" who saved Bedford Falls and Bailey's.

I know, I WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY overthought this. And it doesn't change how great the ending is.

Just got back from having dinner with a couple of friends.

Had planned to go to Ramen Mottainai with them, but the place is closed on Tuesdays(!)... Puppy Dog Eyes

Went to the soba and udon place next door: Fukagawa... Had the Kanto style soba with beef and negi... Not bad, but I was in the mood for ramen. Sweat

Haha. You could probably freeze any leftovers just by leaving your plate on the counter.
