Anyone getting Portal 2 for the PS3 or PC? I bit and decided to buy the game from Amazon since they're still offering a $20 credit which I'm planning to use for a game down the line. Just wanted to know if anyone else is getting it so we can team up for some co-op play Mr Green

So, how many of you gamers out there are cancelling your credit cards?

Sony PlayStation network Hacked

By Alex Pham, Los Angeles Times

April 27, 2011
Sony Corp. said hackers had obtained personal data, and possibly credit card information, of tens of millions of people who have registered for PlayStation Network, the company's online game and movie service, as well as Qriocity, its on-demand digital music service.

"This was a big one," said Bruce Schneier, security technologist and author of "Beyond Fear" and other books on computer security, referring to the number of accounts and the scope of information involved.

As of March 31, Sony had 77 million accounts for its PlayStation Network service, which links users via the Sony PlayStation 3 video game console to download games and tap into online services such as Netflix's video streaming service.

Not all accounts are active, and it's possible that one person can have multiple accounts.

Hackers who gained access to personal information last week were able to steal names, addresses, phone numbers, user names, birth dates, email addresses and passwords, Sony said. The company said it did not know whether credit card information was stolen.

"While there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility," Sony PlayStation spokesman Patrick Seybold wrote on the company's blog. "If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have been obtained."

Sony last week shut down its PlayStation Network service, saying it had been the target of an "intrusion," but did not release details until Tuesday.

The delay drew criticism from Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), who fired off a letter to the president of Sony's PlayStation business in the U.S., Jack Tretton, saying he was "troubled by the failure of Sony to immediately notify affected customers of the breach and to extend adequate financial data security protections."

"We learned there was an intrusion April 19 and subsequently shut the services down," Sony spokesman Patrick Seybold said. "We then brought in outside experts to help us learn how the intrusion occurred and to conduct an investigation to determine the nature and scope of the incident. It was necessary to conduct several days of forensic analysis, and it took our experts until [Monday] to understand the scope of the breach. We then shared that information with our consumers and announced it publicly [Tuesday]."

But wait, there's more, , ,

SONY says 25 million more accounts hacked

NEW YORK – Sony Corp. said Monday that hackers may have taken personal information from an additional 24.6 million user accounts after a review of the recent PlayStation Network breach found an intrusion at a division that makes multiplayer online games.

The data breach comes on top of the 77 million PlayStation accounts it has already said were jeopardized by a malicious intrusion.

The latest incident occurred April 16 and 17 — earlier than the PlayStation break-in, which occurred from April 17 to 19, Sony said.

About 23,400 financial records from an outdated 2007 database involving people outside the U.S. may have been stolen in the newly discovered breach, including 10,700 direct debit records of customers in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain, it said.

The outdated information contained credit card numbers, debit card numbers and expiration dates, but not the 3-digit security code on the back of credit cards. The direct debit records included bank account numbers, customer names, account names and customer addresses.

Company spokeswoman Taina Rodriguez said Sony had no evidence the information taken from Sony Online Entertainment, or SOE, was used illicitly for financial gain.

"We had previously believed that SOE customer data had not been obtained in the cyber-attacks on the company, but on May 1 we concluded that SOE account information may have been stolen and we are notifying you as soon as possible," Sony said in a message to customers.

Sony said that it shut service Monday morning to Sony Online Entertainment games, which are available on personal computers, Facebook and the PlayStation 3 console. Its most popular games include "EverQuest," "Free Realms" and "DC Universe Online."

The company said it will grant players 30 days of additional time on their subscriptions, along with one day for each day the system is down. It is also creating a "make good" plan for its multiplayer online games.

On Sunday, Sony executives bowed in apology and said they would beef up security measures after an earlier breach caused it to shut down its PlayStation network on April 20. The company is working with the FBI and other authorities to investigate what it called "a criminal cyber attack" on Sony's data center in San Diego, Calif.

The company said it would offer "welcome back" freebies such as complimentary downloads and 30 days of free service to PlayStation customers around the world to show remorse and appreciation.

PlayStation spokesman Patrick Seybold, in a blog post Monday, denied a report that said a group tried to sell millions of credit card numbers back to Sony.

He also said that while user passwords had not been encrypted, they were transformed using a simpler function called a hash that did not leave them exposed as clear text.

When I went to go visit Harrod's in London in the Games department they had this custom built rig for playing racing video games.

The price (sorry it's small...14,240 British Pounds). At today's exchange rate, that's a measly $23,253.
