Eri Fukatsu takes Best Actress in Montreal
Tue, September 7, 2010 (2:20am EDT)
On Monday in Montreal, actress Eri Fukatsu was awarded Best Actress at the 34th Montreal World Film Festival. She received the prize for her role in Sang-il Lee's "Akunin," which stars her and actor Satoshi Tsumabuki.

Fukatsu is the first Japanese to win Best Actress at the festival since Yuko Tanaka took it in 1983 for her performance in "Amagigoe." However, Japanese have won other awards at the festival in recent years, including Yojiro Takita's "Okuribito" in 2008 (Grand prix des Americas) and Kichitaro Negishi's "Viyon no Tsumabuki" in 2009 (Best Director).

Here's a pic:

And good-oh for the judges in Montreal who recognize talent when they see it.

After having seen her in the movies "The Magic Hour", "The Professor and his Beloved Equation", "Space Travelers" and "Akunin" and in the dorama "Slow Dance", "Saikou no Kataomoi" and "Koi no Chikara" (and being hopeful that they'll finish subbing "Kabachitare!" Fingers crossed ), she's become my #1 fave actress...beautiful and brilliant, yay Fukacchan!!! Victory! Peace!

Some other Fukatsu Eri works you might want to check out:

Odoru Daisousasen--she has a prominent role in both the TV series and the subsequent movies.

Suekko Chounan Ane San Nin--this is one of the better romantic comedies I think she's appeared in.

Honoka'a Boy--in this movie set in Hawaii, she makes two very brief cameo appearances. In one, she plays a tourist and is very charming, very Eri-like. In the other, she was so unrecognizable that I didn't know it was her.

I had already got "Suekko Chounan..." and Honokaa Boy (they're in my quite huge stack of "things to watch next" - among many other things, also her other dorama "Change", "Narita Rikon" and "Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi" Sweat ) but really ARIGATOU GOZAIMASU for suggesting "Odoru Daisousasen"! Bow
The first time I googled it I didn't find it (either it wasn't yet subbed back then or else I didn't search it right Sweat ), but now I re-googled it and found all (dorama + 3 movies)...once again THANKS A LOT! Thumbsup Thanx!

TIA! Bow

p.s.
Oh, and other Fukacchan's fans may want to know that on unsolvedcases.livejournal.com they're subbing Fukatsu Eri no BURAKOME (raws on raredoramas.info) Victory! Peace!

Eri Fukatsu to star in new movie "Kishibe no Tabi"

Fukatsu Eri and Asano Tadanobu will be co-starring in the new movie "Kishibe no Tabi" which is due to be shown next year in Japan and France.

They play a married couple Yusuke (Asano) and Mizuki (Fukatsu) who live apart for three years due to the sudden disappearance of Yusuke. Just when Mizuki has finally decided to move on with her life and go back to work, Yusuke suddenly returns home and invites Mizuki to go on a trip with him to meet the people who have helped him during the past three years. As a result of interacting with those people and getting to know a different side of Yusuke, Mizuki finds herself being drawn to him again but something else has also changed during the period of their separation.
