If only we had the correct climate... And water.
True. True. But here in the States it's called being cheap. If you want the real thing you can import...what do you think Japan does when they want the original article.
Pay to play, man. In the States, it's often about quantity, not quality. Despite this being my third time to Japan, upon my return, I'm still astounded how, generally speaking, the quality of food here is still sh*t, relatively speaking. Okay, that's from the perspective of a foodie, but still!

Already reminiscing a bit.
Warining: picture flood.
After my sleeping my first night at the hotel in Tokyo, I was still a bit jet lagged and I woke up at 3am. Not able to go back to sleep, I contemplated what to do at that time. Being walking distance from my hotel, I decided to head to Tsukiji, Tokyo's Central Fish Market for probably some of the freshest sushi in the world. I ate at the famous Sushi Dai located in the fish market itself. I got there at 4:40am and there was already a line in preparation for the 5am opening. I was surprised but I guess it was stupid to be surprised considering it's a popular joint among locals and tourists alike, given the value and the freshness. Here are the pics:
Speaking of sushi, I went to my brother's usual hangout last Saturday and had some fresh, live amaebi: after I consumed the body portion, the tail portion was still wiggling on the plate... Awesome.

It was really good. It was actually a set course...I added on the sayuri and another piece of hobo at the end but the set course is about 3900 Yen (roughly $48 at today's rate of exchange). It's worth it in my opinion.
I actually had better sushi in Ginza to be honest though, but it was more expensive. I'll post those pics later.

LOoks like youve been eating like a Shogun, Tu!!
I had mussels tonight in a to go order but they were so undercooked they were gooey.
On the plus side I called the restaurant and they are sending me a coupon for two appetizers so I'll get them again. Usually they are terrific there. _________________

It was definitely fun. Now I gotta get back in to the gym to stave off my vacation induced lazy ways. One of the mitigating factors is that while in Japan at least I was walking all day every day but not so back at home.

One late night jet lagged in Tokyo. I ordered room service...Curry with Japanese wagyu beef. Retarded expensive but the most tender beef I've ever had in a curry dish! No regrets.
