Tsutsumi Shinichi as Matahachi.

Watching his character grow-up, mature, and change as a person over the course of the long series floored me. It was one of the best jobs of TV acting I've ever seen. I've been a big fan of his ever since.

+1.

First Taiga I ever watched... And really became a Ryoko and J-drama fan after that. Victory! Peace!

"Saigo Kara Nibanme no Koi" is subbed, but I can't offer to send you a copy. Right now I have no way to burn discs. Everything I watch is in file form on a hard drive.

Long story. I'm working on it.

If you can get it from someone else... jump at it. So far it's really good.

Already on my want list after your review. Nice to see your reviews again. Mr Green

Just finished the first season of Ooku. I really like the first 4 episodes with Kanno Miho as Atsuhime and it was great to see more of Ikewaki Chizuru throughout the series. I actually like it better than the more recent Taiga version, although the main characters were very limited in what they could do to improve their situations, like in Atsuhime.

Excellent, I have it on my to watch pile next. Victory! Peace!

Up to episode 5 of Juunen Saki mo Kimi ni Koishite, Aya drama which has been okay, her soon-to-be husband comes back from the future to talk her out of marrying him, not as far fetched as it sounds. Finished up Doctors from 2011, much better than expected, if you liked Ns. Aoi this would be something you would like, instead of a righteous nurse it's a righteous doctor. About to watch episode 4 of Kagi no Kakatta Heya, gotten better as it goes along and started on Honjitsu mo Hare Ijou Nashi, not enough seeders though for the latter episodes to keep watching. Toshi Densetsu no Onna, first ep was ok. I felt like Nagasawa's rambled a bit when solving the case.

No time for dramas right now, but I did watch the SPEC Sho special, finally. For some reason I watched it after the movie. Thanks good, they are independent enough from each other but still a bit of a shame because some bits of information make only sense if you have watched the SP. I thought SP and movie were equally epic and whack, and they left a possibility for another season, SP or movie.

I watched both the TV version and the director's cut, but to be honest the director's cut is a more detailed but doesn't add a lot of new elements.

Sad to say, I finished "Saigo Kara Nibanme no Koi" today. But pleased that it was terrific to the very last drop.

A wonderful cast from top to bottom, and a very well written show.

It is a Romantic Comedy about people in their late 40s, and early 50s. So if you're looking for Idols, just making their way in the big city, and looking for love... you might want to look elsewhere.

But for me... it was a show I looked forward to seeing every day. And best of all, it really left me wanting more.

BMW

That's not a bad comparison. I don't think I would have come up with it, but the moment I read your comment I thought, yeah!

And thanks niknik. I hadn't gone back to notice that both shows had the same writer.

Eve

I hope you enjoy "Muri Na Renai". My favorite parts of that series were the scenes when the girls were at their make-up mirrors, getting ready for their scenes.

^ @Geezer...You are quite welcome. Big Grin

Started watching some of the Spring season's offerings, and I knew there wasn't going to be anything I would enjoy as much as Saigo Kara Nibanme no Koi. I did finish the 5 episode Suitei Yuuzai. Not bad, worth a watch. My highlight was seeing Kuroki Hitomi looking as lovely as ever. Mr Green

A few of the ones that were somewhat interesting for me were Kaeru no Oujo-sama with Amami Yuki in something lighter than she's been doing, Legal High with Sakai Masato as a money-loving lawyer, and Cleopatra na Onnatachi with Sato Ryuta as a doctor working in a plastic surgeon's office of only women.

Suitei Yuuzai (Presumed Guilty)

http://jdorama.com/drama.1749.htm

I just watched the fourth of the five episodes and for the most part I've found it far too melodramatic for my tastes. Very earnest, lots of dramatic music, and seemingly more message than story being delivered.

But I will say, it was good enough to stay with... and now, after the penultimate episode, they found a hook, a storyline that I'd like to see through to the end.

The overall feeling I'm getting is that this would have been better, done as a two hour special, rather than a five hour series.

I'll do a thumbs up or down once I see the last episode.

Haven't seen Suitei Yuuzai but I notice it's from the folks at WOWOW TV. Off the top of my head, there's two other dramas I've seen by them, Pandora and Marks no Yama. I don't know who does their casting but it looks like they put a sign on the door saying "Only real actors need apply".

One of the best WOWOW dramas in recent time I feel, is Soratobu Taiya. From then on, I feel like in every single season, WOWOW almost always delivers, and their dramas tend to be of high quality in production, plot as well as acting (especially), and theirs are always my favourites every season.

Besides Shokuzai last season, they also have Bunshin. Nagasawa Masami is the lead and I know that she's hit or miss for most (me included), but a WOWOW production brings the best in her IMO, and it ends up one of my favs last season as well besides Saigo Kara Nibanme no Koi and Strawberry Night.

Suitei Yuuzai has ended and so far it's one of my favs this season, and the replacement Tsumi to Batsu is not bad as well.

Hats off to WOWOW dramas. Applaud

And once again, I'll recommend everyone to try out Soratobu Taiya. It's worth it. Smile

I second the recommendation of Soratobu Taiya. I've always liked Nakamura Toru and I think he really shone here. The cast did a fantastic job overall, the storyline was pretty solid and 5 episodes was just right. Pacing was good, nothing felt filler-ish or out of place.

ep 84 of carnation! anyone else watching its such a sweet asadora.
I cried a lot in the recent weeks due to world war 2 and many of the main characters dying Sad but thankfully things are turnning around and I love seeing all the clothes! especially now japan is adapting a more western life style and the late 40s, early 50s clothing is to die for!

I also don't know what it is but men of this time are so much more handsome then todays
