Last Cinderella episode 3.

Miura Haruma's character is plain bleh , I mean he's not that great either even though I'm relieved they didn't cast Matsumoto Jun for this role, but seriously sometimes I really don't get Japanese people.

Also, what's with

Watching 35-sai no Koukousei. Yonekura Ryoko should get better roles though. She's really good in this mediocre series...

Also watching Kogure Shashinkan, and I'm loving it so far. It got quite an edgy look to it too.

Just finished this one, watched it in 2 days (it's only 4 episodes though) and loved it to pieces! Left me feeling warm and fuzzy inside, a much better family drama than 11 Nin mo Iru. It has a little old-fashioned touch, it could very well been set in the 70ties or 80ties. And wow, Kamiki Ryunosuke and Narumi Riko are grown-ups now.

Like Abe Hiroshi, she's always watchable, regardless of the drama.

I haven't started this drama yet, since the fansubber has been on hiatus.

She knows her target audience - fanboys.

Getting caught back up with 'Yakou Karansha': http://www.jdorama.com/drama.1804.htm

Turning into a pretty decent murder mystery. Let's hope it keeps up. Fingers crossed

I thought about watching that, for no other reason than Katase Nana. But I just can't bring myself to watch any kind of high school dramas.

Yeah, I suppose your right. Maybe she aimes to please fanboys, I don't know.
I am curious though, how she would do in a more serious drama, as she impresses me in this one. Don't know if that makes me a fanboy Mr Green

She did win best actress awards for Kurokawa no Techo and Doctor X... And she did play those roles straight.

Ah. I'm sorry. I didn't see many drama's with her in it yet. I don't know Kurokawa no Techo and am sure to check it out. I liked Doctor X, but that was over the top. Not what I mean with a serious drama. I would like to see her in a more of a slice of life thing, like for example Going my Home.

Hmm, I can't recall if she's done anything like that... Maybe too glamorous for a role like that...?

Also joined the Doubles club - like the casting HOT! but the cases so far have been incredibly dull. I prefer Galileo 2 I think.

Watching 'Oregon kara Ai': http://www.jdorama.com/drama.85.htm

Possibly the only drama in which you see a Ford Pinto. Also fun seeing actors we regard as old guys now, Ikko Furuya playing a husband and Sei Hiraizumi as a boyfriend.

It's also reinforcing a personal belief of mine that the world was a better place BEFORE the invention of the cell phone.

^ sounds interesting!

Sennyu Tantei Tokage episode one - I like Matsuda Shota, I like detective stories and I am quite good at ignoring plotholes. But this one has a very unoriginal/unrealistic script. It has some action so I will continue for little while more.

Last Cinderella episode four - I might drop this ... I like some of the "ecchi"-ness, however my issue is that Ryoko's character is supposed to be 39 years old but is portrayed as innocent and childlike - even a 12 year old would be acting more mature.

I have fished out Nakuna, Hara-chan from last season - enjoyable!

Sounds like one I'll have to check out! Victory! Peace!

I guess I'll avoid Yan Papa.

Karei Naru Spy is good during the second half. The first half isn't bad, but it starts out a little slow and cheesy at first. Have fun with your rewatch of Papa to Musume no Nanokakan. That's one of my other favorite comedies.

The writing and direction of Yan Papa may be flawed; I don't think it was Nagase's acting that was to blame here at all.

But I agree, the first episode of Karei Naru Spy wasn't that great. It got so much more enjoyable though from the second episode onwards. And it had a lot of moments in which Nagase's acting skills really shined. Applaud

You might want to check out Utahime as well, as he stars in that show too.

I highly recommend Utahime too. Don't let yourself get thrown off though 'cause the story takes place in the 1950s. One of the best endings I've seen, seriously.

About 120 episodes into Umechan Sensei, the asadora with Horikita Maki.
Started this last year actually, but as the story moved away from Umechan's goal and medical stuff, I lost interest. Picked it up again and it's really very enjoyable. Easy and fun to watch with sprinkling of lessons and wisdom, the series still doesn't feel very long after so many episodes.

Acting is generally of a very high standard and the cast works really well together to project a community full of warmth, hope and optimism.
I wish they spent more time exploring/showing the social changes/issues Japan went through post-war (as I knew almost nothing about it). Sometimes, I thought they took the easy way out and didn't delve deeply into the hardship and struggle many people must have gone through, but I guess Japanese have enough to deal with post 311 earthquake. Churasan is still my favourite asadora though as I was totally absorbed when watching that and felt so strongly with the characters. With Umechan, I am not sure I will rewatch it, or remember much of it in a year or two.

Finally, just want to give mention to a few (previously unknown to me) actors/actresses I like: Tokunaga Eri, as Umechan's best friend, Umechan's uncle (aka Tsurumi Shingo), and Noburo (played by Matsuzaka Tori).

---

Just watched the first 7 episodes of Amachan. Didn't like it as much as Umechan for the first week. The "problem" is that they are trying to tell two stories (of both mother and daughter) at the same time and I felt I didn't get much time to learn what kind of character Aki is, so far. They are trying to say something about generational differences, it will take time to learn what the story is about. The opening music is really catchy and fun though, I nodded along with the music with a smile, eagerly anticipating what was to follow. Smile Nounen Rena is very cute. Right now, what I am most looking forward to is the relationship between her and Hashimoto Ai's character.

Kazoku Game episode 2. Am I the only one who thinks this is a waste of Suzuki Honami? That Arashi guy has so many parts. Too many.
