'Watashi ga Renai Dekinai': http://www.jdorama.com/drama.1671.htm

Which is a pretty average drama, but there's a scene where Karina is on a date with a guy who is a cop. Karina says she's hungry and the cop says, "I know a good donut place!" I guess the cops and donuts stereotype is universal. Big Grin

^agree with both the donut/cop and the "Woman" hypothesis.

Yeah the drama that kept me thinking "condoms guys, condoms!"

I am now up to episode 4 of Starman and 5 or 6 of Gekiryuu ~ Watashi wo Oboete Imasuka? Starman is light stuff and Gekiryuu is kind of soapy with a stalker subplot and a silly murder side story. The mystery resolution will make or break this.

I missed this week's episode of Woman.

Episode 5 was the "everyone's living in denial" episode.

Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:

And there's that annoying subplot with the female doctor and her husband being separated which isn't really contributing anything to the main story.

Had a great time watching the first 12 weeks of Chiritotechin, the asadora about rakugo performers starring Kanjiya Shiori a few years ago. Very entertaining, but behind the laughters and the feel-good comedy, there were plenty of tears and moving moments as well. For the last week or two, I tried a few times to stop watching (because it's not fully subbed) but every time I looked for something else to watch, I ended up continuing where I left off. Kanjiya Shiori was really talented, particularly with emotional scenes, much more accomplished than many other actresses playing their respective asadora heroines, it's a shame she didn't seem get many significant roles since. The series has been subbed to 102 episodes, so hopefully not too long before it's finished.

Akumu chan. I watched the first 6 episodes a while ago. There were some imaginative story telling and interesting moments, particularly at the end of the third episode when the main character made a big decision about herself. But the series failed to really kick on from there. And even though Kitagawa Keiko seemed to improve as the series progressed, I felt she was not totally convincing.

Am watching Woman too. Mitsushima Hikari is really good in this, but I am a little disappointed they decided to take on the illness plot line.

Watched the first two episodes of 'Hanzawa Naoki'. I can see why it's getting the ratings it's getting. Lots of twists and turns, don't never trust nobody and two great villains in Takashi Ukaji as Higashida and Kataoka Ainosuke as Kurosaki. Applaud
Kataoka could be the bigger villain of the two, nobody likes the tax department, right?

Well, there may be more bad guys. I don't trust Teruyuki Kagawa's character and I'm not real sure about Mitsuhiro Oikawa. He seems like he's on Sakai's side but I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't.

Wasn't too keen to start "Osozaki no Himawari " but somehow the interest just grow after every episode, almost like a younger version of Saigo Kara Nibanme no Koi

Osozaki no himawari was a nice surprise indeed. I like you comparing it with Saigo Kara Nibanme no Koi :-)

Legal High. It's quite fun and entertaining, but there's not a lot to it. I am enjoying it nonetheless.

Episode 3 of 'Hanzawa Naoki'. Our hero turns the tables on the bad guys again. But they've got me so paranoid I'm not even sure I trust Aya, and she's Sakai's wife! Sweat

Episode 6 of 'Woman'. It may turn into a formula drama but when there's two good actors like Mitsushima and Tanaka, it's still interesting. Looks like in the next episode we get to find out more about Shun.

Glad that there is still hope for Woman, with all the potential and all. Will continue that as soon as I'm home from holidays. Brought a bunch of Amachan eps with me. Watched week 1 yesterday. It's very nice, but has to grab me yet. Some beautiful underwater scenes though, and Nounen Rena is a breath of fresh air. Soooo cute and dreamy. It' a nice contrast with all of the tough women surrounding her. Koizumi Kyoko is great as usual. I hope the focus will stay on her story as well.
Btw. Here is a picture of Amachan props that I took at the NHK studio's last week : )

Episode 4 of 'Hanzawa Naoki'. This is going to go one of two ways. It's either going to be really good or its going to turn into such a convoluted mess nobody will be able to figure it out.

Just finished Shinzanmono, really enjoyed it. Abe Hiroshi was pretty solid throughout and I love the running joke that he can never get any taiyaki. Even Kuroki Meisa was bearable, and I did like Miura Tomokazu's turn as the dad. The cops were funny too, and I liked the slice-of-life beats, it's quite rare to get that in a detective drama.

thoroughly enjoying Amachan w00t!
Watched it initially without subs and could get by and understand part of the story. Now that earthsubs have started releasing subs for it, I re-watched again from the start and it has become a lot more enjoyable than before.

Episode 5 of 'Hanzawa Naoki'. I was wondering how they could make the storyline about the crooked loan recovery last 11 episodes and they wrapped it up. We're moving on to bigger and better things.

The kanji for 'Naoki' is . Which I guess you could translate as 'honest tree'. And while he is honest, he's also one cold-blooded bastard when he wants to be. I almost felt sorry for Asano.

Looks like Mitsuko Baisho is going to be in the next episode. The cast just keeps getting better. Applaud

There are only 10 episodes, because TBS didn't think it will be a hit. They are trying to extend it now but because Sakai Masato has already been scheduled for Legal High 2 next season, it's not happening. From news report online.

Yamada-kun to Nananin no Majo episode 1 was fun. I like Nishiuchi Mariya in Switch Girl and she is good here too. Not really interested in the supporting characters though.

Woman episode 6

I really like the ambience of the scene by the courtyard in twilight. Quality drama like this is really few and far between, even though I would have preferred the story to develop in a different direction, the story telling itself is outstanding.

Sweat Glad you liked it! It's one of those I may go back and watch again in the future, if there's a dry season.

Now I'm watching Hanzawa Naoki, after my business partner's wife recommended it.
