Mai Kuraki receives "Best Character Award" from Kodansha

The annual Kodansha Advertising Award was presented on Tuesday, and this year saw the creation of a "Best Character Award." The prize winner was singer Mai Kuraki.

The Best Character Award was chosen by the editors of six of Kodansha's female-oriented magazines, including VoCE, with, and FRaU. The award is meant to honor a person who is loved by magazine readers and has contributed to the magazines' advertising efforts.

Kuraki's latest magazine appearance is in the February issue of VoCE, which went on sale on December 21.

Kuraki Mai will be releasing her 38th single, �gKoi ni Koi Shite / Special morning day to you�g, on August 15th.

�gKoi ni Koi Shite�h has been picked up as the ending theme for the anime, �eMeitantei Conan�e, starting August 4th. Meanwhile, �gSpecial morning day to you�h will serve as the CM song for Canadian natural water �eICEFIELD�e, which stars the singer herself.

The limited edition will come with a DVD containing the music video for �gKoi ni Koi Shite�h, and 3 different CMs for �eICEFIELD�f. It will also enclose a �eMeitantei Conan�f card.

Along with the new single, Kuraki will simultaneously release a new live DVD featuring the finale of her recent nationwide tour, �eMai Kuraki Live Tour 2012 ~OVER THE RAINBOW~�e. As a special favor, it will include a documentary with behind-the-scenes footage from the tour.

Additionally, Kuraki will be holding a live collaboration with Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra on September 6th and 7th at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space Concert Hall. She will be performing her hit songs with a full orchestra, and she�fs also scheduled to sing her new songs for the very first time. Ticket pre-orders are currently ongoing through Being Group�fs music portal site, �eMusing�e, until July 22nd.

Mai Kuraki to release new single 'Try Again'

Kuraki Mai has announced that she will be releasing her new single, �gTRY AGAIN�g, on February 6th.

The singer�fs 39th single is described as a dance tune with positive lyrics and a catchy melody. It has already been used as the opening theme for anime �eMeitantei Conan�e since January 5th.

The single will be released in 3 different types: Limited Edition (CD+DVD), Regular Edition (CD-Only), and a �eMeitantei Conan�f Edition (CD+DVD). The �eMeitantai Conan�f Edition jacket cover will feature both Kuraki and the anime characters.

Mai Kuraki to sing theme song for 'Majo no Takkyubin' movie

Kuraki Mai has written the song "Wake me up" as the theme song for the live-action adaptation movie 'Majo no Takkyubin' (aka 'Kiki's Delivery Service') scheduled to open in theaters on March 1st.

The last time she provided a theme song for a movie was "PUZZLE" for 'Meitantei Conan Shikkoku no Tsuisekisha' about 5 years ago.

The movie's protagonist Kiki will be played by rookie actress Koshiba Fuka. It will be directed by Shimizu Takashi and written by Okudera Satoko ('Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki'). In addition, Osono will be played by Ono Machiko, Tonbo by Hirota Ryohei, Kiki's mother Kokiri by Miyazawa Rie, and father Okino by Tsutsui Michitaka.

Mai Kuraki to hold 15th anniversary tour

Kuraki Mai will be holding a live tour titled "15th Anniversary Mai Kuraki Live Project 2014 BEST 'Ikki Ikkai' ~FUN FUN FUN���c~".

In December, Kuraki will celebrate her 15th anniversary. She will kick off her upcoming tour at live houses with the intention to return to the beginning of her career. Currently, 8 shows have been announced from June to August. Then she will hold concerts at hall venues as well as overseas.

Additionally, Kuraki is scheduled to hold a special live in December as a compilation of her 15th year. More details will be announced at a later date.

Mai Kuraki to release "Best Of" album in November

Kuraki Mai will release her best-of album "MAI KURAKI BEST 151A -LOVE & HOPE-" on November 12.

Kuraki's third best-of album will be a 2 disc set with the concepts "LOVE" and "HOPE". "LOVE" will feature a total of 15 medium-tempo tunes and ballads such as "Stay by my side" and "Secret of my heart". Meanwhile, "HOPE" will come with a total of 15 uptempo numbers such as "Love, Day After Tomorrow" and "Stand Up".

The limited editions will also come with a DVD. Limited Edition A DVD will include a PV or live footage for all songs in "LOVE", while Limited Edition B DVD will include a PV or live footage for all songs in "HOPE".

Kuraki had the jacket cover from her first album "delicious way" reproduced to use as the jacket cover for her upcoming best-of album. Furthermore, the album's title "151A" means "once in a lifetime," and Kuraki gave it the title as a "thank you to each and every person for the past 15 years."

Kuraki will hold a special live called "15th Anniversary Mai Kuraki Live Project 2014 BEST 'Ichigo Ichie' ~Premium~" on December 6 at Nippon Budokan where she is expected to sing every single song off of the best-of album. This live will not only commemorate her 15th anniversary since her debut, but also her 300th solo live.

Finally, Kuraki will create a music video for her debut song "Love, Day After Tomorrow" with 15 directors. The song will be divided into 15 parts, and each director will be in charge of 1 part. The completed video will be revealed via GyaO! in early September.
