It's very similar: Corrupt, conniving, underhanded management and Ryoko sticking it to them every chance she gets... I love it. Victory! Peace!

IS it??!!

I need to see it then.

I loved Ryoko in it. Gobbled season one. Smitten

@junny- I think in some ways at actually has relevance too. There are no other female leads quite so kick-a. Kind of a woman's movement thing.

Starting Yasashii Jiikan. Getting ready to cry a bit. Shameful Cry

One minor point, I know why they did it. It was so we would know which twin was which, but it struck as kind of odd that if Sei was this biological super-marvel, why does he have to wear glasses? Head Scratch

Thanks for the recommendation. THis will be next on my watchlist.

Before i get all the detective series mixed up, i thot i will pen my thoughts:

Fukuie Keibuho no Aisatsu - i am told who is the murderer from the start. No, thank you.

Senryokugai Sosakan - another smart chick as detective. I am not told who is the murderer from the start. Yes, i will continue

Nezumi, Edo wo Hashiru - detective series in the Edo period. It hasn't cured my insomnia so far. Yes, i will continue

S - Saigo no Keikan - As good as a morning double espresso. I watched the first episode twice. I think they've got all the right guys in the show and i thought they ought to kick all the women out before they ruin the drama.

Dokushin Kizoku - The Korean had a similar version with the Prime Minister and I. But as it turns out, i found both plots such a drag and watching the supporting cast was much more interesting so far. I guess i would rather spend 3hrs watching Roman Holiday or Sabrina.

Umi no Ue no Shinryojo - Having Fujiwara Norika as a shadow in the drama is such a shocker. It rewards well to complete the series though.

Otto no Kanojo - i wished this had been a summer drama instead.

Danda Rin - i thought the opening scene hinted on her demise and her team's reminiscence of her ? I thought they were all wearing funeral attire then. Anyone of you follow this series?

Yorozu Uranaidokoro Onmyoya e Yokoso Not as bad as the ratings made them out to be. I wish someone could sub the entire series.

I remember thinking that as well. The lady that ran that other company, I thought she Yuko's enemy, but then she wasn't, or was she? The whole plot was a mess. Shake Head

Nice. Like your logic. hehe hehe

Currently watching Priceless.

Very enjoyable. THe children actors are charming and quite natural. Something Ive found in most jdramas.

There is a reason why the main leads are main leads.

Catchy fun comedy. Definitely going to finish. Victory! Peace!

Karina reminds me of Ryoko a bit, Beem.

I thought of her in that role. think that Ryoko could have played that role really well. Good comedic actress.

It's pretty much a unanimous opinion that 'Oshin' is the best asadora ever. You could make a strong argument it might be the best drama ever. Thumbsup

OT: Watched the first episode of Yuki Amami's latest "Kjnkyu Torishirabeshitsu":http://www.jdorama.com/drama.1916.htm

Typical non-Aibou detective drama. I.E. long on overacting, short on plot. Although Yuki does look great with her new short haircut. HOT!

I do agree about Michiko, yes. She's pretty awesome. Only thing is... not much of character growth there for her. She's the same wherever she is, and the only time I see her sort of vulnerable and aware of her limitations as a surgeon is in the last episode of season 2 (of course, she then overcomes the obstacles as brilliantly as always). I guess you can't stray too far from the "I never fail" mantra.

I was hoping Kondo joined Akira-san's agency, not quite liking the idea of him staying on and fighting the hospital system... at least that Mabuchi freak booted herself to France, may she drown soon in the River Seine. Pity about Ebina... he was coming good for a while but then he had to degenerate into an idiot.

Anyway, back on topic, watched the first episode of 'Ashita, mama ga inai'. Ashida and Suzuki were good as expected but unless they tone it down this has the potential to be really, really bad.

Thru episode 3 and it is a lot less Dickensian now. At the start of episode two I was thinking, "Geez, I don't know if I can finish this one.", but they're fleshing out some of the other characters and there are some subplots most notably there's something between Mikami and Sawa Suzuki as the lady that runs the bento shop. All the kids are good but Ashida is still head and shoulders above the rest. Like I've said before, she's a 30 year old actress trapped in the body of a 10 year old.

You're right. Oshin is really good! I've gotten used to the eighties feel of it, and really appreciating the acting! Especially that of Watanabe Misako. Glad she's still with us.

I'm up to ep 66 now. Trouble is looming...

After watching it as a kid, then a teenager and as an adult, I still can't figure out if Oshin really has a good ending.

I grew up with Oshin's supermarket. My family bought everything from Oshin's store and then it was gone. So, one part of my childhood is gone for good. i'm just relieved that the real Oshin didn't get to see it. But the drama says the family stayed united during the crisis.

Watched it three times, and I had always skipped the portion about her and her mother-in-law. Nonetheless I find Oshin more alluring than Daejeonggeum

I got hooked on Carnation too. Japan really needs folks like the matriarch in Carnation. Find a new meadow in your sunset years. Gegege is another classic. I went hunting for over-riped ugly bananas after the drama. They are really sweeter than honey.

Anymore Asadora worth watching?

"Ohisama" wasn't bad: http://www.jdorama.com/drama.1606.htm

and "Churasan" spawned 3 or 4 sequels: http://www.jdorama.com/drama.867.htm

Antspace, I don't want to give too much away, but if you think she's in trouble now, wait until Oshin meets her mother in law. rant
