My dear next time you visit New York to hang out with mom or others friends or loved ones go to Ippudo in NY.

It's the New York branch of a famous chain of ramen shops in Japan.

My niece has been to the Ippudo in NY... She bought me a "I Love Ramen" t-shirt from there. Victory! Peace!

Bahaha. Captive audience? Too much competition there from ramen shops vying for credibility and customers. Perhaps since we don't have an Ippudo here nobody was eager to acknowledge their reputation for good ramen, despite their international presence.

Maybe.

If they have another ramen fest this year, I hope it's a lot more organized... Last year's was a free-for-all fiasco. bleh

I understand. The first time I went to the LA Street Food Festival several years back they had all the food trucks cramped in this small lot in Downtown LA; it was so incredibly crowded with the ill-conceived layout. The next year they ditched the trucks and had the event at the Rose Bowl on the actual field so people weren't basically crawling all over each other.

I'm sure the next time they host it they'll improve the set up. Smile

Handmade onigiri from the Omusubi Gonbei stall at Mitsuwa. They are visiting until February 9th.

Omusubi Gonbei is a chain of onigiri shops that has exploded in the last few years throughout Tokyo. Pictured above are a Ikura onigiri and a Grilled Unagi onigiri. Pretty tasty and cheap! Go get some if you're in SoCal! Several flavors are on offer.

Hehe. Yes, I'm sure there are numerous ramen shops in NYC but this one is so popular and actually established its fame in Japan so it's a safe bet that once you try it, you'll enjoy it. Smile

Eggs Benedict at the French Door at the Grand Hyatt Roppongi Hills. I had this very same breakfast when I first visited Japan 10 years ago so I had to have it again as a return guest at the hotel for nostalgic reasons!

Freshly made Mitarashi Dango in Kamakura. Japanese dumplings made from mochiko (rice flour) in a sweet soy sauce glaze. Kindly held by awesome friend so I could capture the shot. Love her. Hehe.
