Is it true that the "-ko" ending for girls' names was popular in the post-war period and it's no longer common?

When I was in Japan last fall, I specifically asked my cousin about this. She said nowadays, it's uncommon for people to name their daughters with names ending with "ko". Her granddaughters' names were "Miyu and "Ayu" but her daughter is named "Keiko". "Ko" ending names, I guess, are old-fashioned. You don't see parents naming their daughters "Diane", "Linda" or "Susan" here now.

why not try a name that will sort of represent your character's personality? you can post some of their qualities so we can suggest suitable names for them, just a thought...

Oddly enough, (well maybe not that odd) we have a thread that discusses exactly that: http://jdorama.com/viewtopic.6230.20.htm

But disregard any posts made by Tu Triky, those weren't meant to be taken seriously. (At least I don't think so Crazy )

My favorite is Ryoko Yonekur so I will suggest

Ryoko meaning refreshing child / good child

Or

Michiko -- meaning beautiful wise child ; child of thousand beauties

Ryoko's role name in Doctor X is Michiko w00t! and Doctor X is my favorite
