Oh, this is great news indeed. I'm really looking forward to another instalment in the Odoru Daisousasen series.

3rd of July, hmm... July 3 this year? I thought it wasn't due for another year at the very least.

Cheers,
Nils

News clip with Oda Yuji

"Odoru Daisousasen" goes mobile with new story
Tue, June 1, 2010 (11:28am EDT)
The release of "Odoru Daisousasen: The Movie 3" is just a month away, and at a PR event held on Monday, it was announced that an original story related to the film is being produced for mobile phones.

"Kakarichou Aoshima Shunsaku: THE MOBILE - Jiken wa Torishirabeshitsu de Okiteiru!" is a series of videos aimed at owners of NTT DoCoMo phones. Of course, Yuji Oda (42) stars as the detective Shunsaku Aoshima, and the series focuses on his first case after being promoted to section chief. The story is said to be an important piece connected to the movie.

The first episode reportedly includes a 7-minute scene of Aoshima talking by himself in the interrogation room. The whole series is 12 episodes long, for a total of approximately 73 minutes. Episodes are planned for release every Tuesday and Friday, starting on June 1.

gOdoru Daisousasenh to get drama special before final movie
Posted on February 12, 2012 by tokyograph

Just before the final gOdoru Daisousasenh movie opens in theaters this September, Fuji TV will broadcast a special drama episode. Not counting the franchisefs spin-offs, this will be the first time in 14 years that the show has had a new television drama featuring the main cast.

Oda Yuji (44) will naturally star in the episode, accompanied by Fukatsu Eri, Yanagiba Toshiro, Yusuke Santamaria, Kitamura Soichiro, Ono Takehiko, and Saito Satoru. The episode will also include Ito Atsushi, Uchida Yuki, and Oguri Shun from the third gOdoru Daisousasenh movie.

gOdoru Daisousasen: The TV Specialh takes place one month before the gOdoru Daisousasen: The Finalh movie. The story involves a search for a female suspect who is internationally wanted for marriage fraud. The character is being played by Korean actress Lee Hae In (25), best known for the Korean television series gRoller Coaster.h This will be her first time appearing in a Japanese drama.

The drama will air this September, sometime before the gOdoru Daisousasen: The Finalh hits theaters. Filming for both is currently being done simultaneously.

Hmm. The OD-The Final is finally here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5gpe0diAqA

Oda Yuji doesn't seem to age and Yanagiba Toshiro has aged enough to play his father. SmileSmile I don't see any Korean actress.

I can't wait to see the three old men. How many of us grew up watching OD, I wonder.

Thanks for the link. I noticed that Mizuno Miki and Maya Miki were part of the group. Does this mean that both of them are in the movie?
Mizuno's character was written out of the third movie in order to punish Mizuno for leaving her then talent agency (yakuza-run btw). If she is in the final, that would be great. Maya's character was a central figure in the second movie but was absent in the third.

Funny seeing the three amigos in their police uniforms; thankfully they're back to ensure some frivolity in the movie.

One character I'd wish they'd bring back for the final is Watanabe Eri's traffic cop supervisor from one of the made-for-TV OD movies; her character intimidated everyone at the Wangan precinct.

It's too bad that Ikariya Chosuke passed away a few years ago; his character played such a significant role in the OD franchise, and it was nice of the creators to acknowledge that in the third movie.

Speaking of the third movie, I hope this final one will be better than that. OD3 was a big disappointment.

So I finally went to see OD The Final last week.
I enjoyed it much more than OD3 but to be honest what I liked best was the banters at the Wangan station, the three amigos and so on. Put a smile on my face every time. I didn't care so much for the Eri Fukatsu story line and the overall mystery.

I had not followed the Japanese press and was blissfully unaware but apparently the big baddie behind the mystery was known in advance by the Japanese audiences since name of the "actor" playing him was leaked over the summer.

@at shin2 - I don't want to give anything away but yes they have cameos in the movie. w00t!

I hope there won't be another sequel, I really think it should be left at that - it's time to say good bye.

Was watching a re-run of "Columbo" (Dick Van Dyke plays the killer) and there was a real funny sequence where Columbo goes into a homeless mission to question a witness. The nun running the mission mistakes Columbo for a homeless person and there's a funny back and forth about how she can get him a better raincoat, please have something to eat, etc. When Columbo finally tells her he's a policeman she says, "Oh, I see. Working undercover!"

Anyway, that got me to thinking. I wonder if the whole thing about Aoshima's raincoat was "borrowed" from "Columbo". Or is it just an amazing coincidence? Wink
