Finndlin's drama votes (2)
Byakuyakou [白夜行]
Super dark and sad drama. Good story and incredible actors. I'd definitely recommend it, but be prepared because everything goes worse and worse and it's gonna ruin your spirits.
Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙]
Best drama I've watched. It is very sad, deep and moving and moreover the cast is awesome. I recommend it.

Finndlin's artiste votes (3)
Nishikido Ryo [錦戸亮]
He's both a very convincing actor and singer (and also quite a charming man, which doesn't ruin the package). I've mostly seen him in dramatic roles, but he was outstanding and convincing. I know that if he's cast in a drama it'll be enough to persuade me to watch it, because he is just so skilled. So far his best performance was "ichi ritoru no namida". Amazing.
Sawajiri Erika [沢尻エリカ]
Ok, her reputation is shot nowadays, but still I think she a stunning actress. She went trhough several difficult role and was very convincing. That's a shame she won't probably act anymore, as she really is brilliant. Her masterpiece is "ichi ritoru no namida" but she was also extremely good in Taiyô no Uta. While cast in romantic/dramatic roles Erika is just splendid.
Yakushimaru Hiroko [薬師丸ひろ子]
She's just excellent. I haven't seen her in many roles which is a shame!

Aishiteru ~ Kaiyo [アイシテル ~ 海容]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Awesome cast (especially the female characters), dealing with a huge taboo in our societies. Rythm is slow indeed but it fits perfectly the story. Only flaw is that the event that triggered the crime wasn't very convincing nor very well played :/ (5th episode). Anyway it's worth watching, it clearly is a superior drama!
Around 40 [アラウンド40]
Rating: 7/10
Attention Please [アテンションン プリース]
Rating: 5/10 (Watched)
Ueto Aya is really a terrible actress and she ruined the show. It wasn't funny and quite boring.
Beautiful life [ビューティフルライフ]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Good performance, good plot. Didn't give more because of all the incongruous misunderstandings that slowed down the story. Nonetheless worth a try!
Byakuyakou [白夜行]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
A very good and very dark story. I strongly recommend it!
Gokusen [ごくせん]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Funny at times, it's really overrated. Still if you're looking for some light comedy you may enjoy it.
Hana Yori Dango [花より男子]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Hana Yori Dango Season 2 [花より男子]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Hotaru no Hikari [ホタルノヒカリ]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Humour is very awkward most of the time. Luckily the love stories are entertaining enough and kept me watching it.
Hotman [ホットマン]
Rating: 7/10
Nothing incredible about it but it was sweet and cute :)
Ichi Ritoru no Namida [1リットルの涙]
Rating: 10/10 (Watched)
Kamisama mou sukoshi dake [神様、もう少しだけ]
Rating: 4/10 (Watched)
Watch it if you like to see very upset people running in slow motion. Or else...between a terrible actress, flaws in the plot, stupid characters, bad knowledge about Aids make your choice.
Kimi wa Petto [きみはペット]
Rating: 7/10
Super weird but somehow .. sweet. I suppose if an older man would take a young girl as a pet everybody would be scandalized hehe but here well, the chemistry works well and it doesn't feel that bad for some reason ;)
Last Friends [ラスト・フレンズ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Interesting and very modern subjects, but unfortunately sometimes the drama goes messed up trying to explore them all. Nagasawa Masami was a terrible choice, other actors are good.
Liar Game [ライアーゲーム]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
I am very uncertain about this dorama and I can't really say wether I liked it or not as it contains as many positive and negative events in it. Let's first point out the good parts : the intrigue. It is of course absolutely not plausible, but it doesn't matter it's not necessarily supposed to be! The atmosphere was great and the music very well chosen. I really enjoyed watching them solving the issues. On my opinion Matsuda Shota played his part nicely as well as most of the "organization" characters. Unfortunately the rest of the cast was grotesque, with the exasperating Toda Erika as the "naive" girl (I'd call her an idiot, as she keeps on falling for the same tricks and can't seem to be able to see when she is clearly duped), or most of the other players who were really poor actors. Sometimes the story is also very corny, and some happenings are ridiculous (c'mon, nobody's explaining his evil plot just before the end :p). I'm also disappointed with the last episode, as they could have made it twice shorter, I didn't wish to see a long summary of the previous events... Anyway I didn't hate it and will probably watch the second season as this dorama has excellent potential!
LIFE [ライフ]
Rating: 8/10
A fairly good jdrama about bullying. Situations are not quite plausible but the good guys are endearing and the young actors who portray them are promising! Unfortunately Hosoda Yoshihiko was really awfull :/ but that didn't completely kill the show... I really enjoyed it!
Long Love Letter [ロング・ラブレター〜漂流教室]
Rating: 7/10
A weird one : good themes but poor special effects and very lame secondary cast. Kubozuka/Tokiwa are great, as usual.
Long vacation [ロングバケーション]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
A famous drama which inspired a lot of more recent shows. Yamaguchi Tomoko portrays a kind of an adorable loser, dumped the day of her wedding, an ageing model unable to find new contracts, broke and naive but overall eager to be loved. Kimura Takuya is as grumpy as usual in the role of a sensitive young pianist who has to cope with a turbulent new roomate...and unexpected feelings. Secondary cast is also fine, except for the horrifying Inamori Izumi, or at least her character who was insufferable. It's a well written love story which I enjoyed quite much and despite the not so surprising ending I spent quality time ;)
Love generation [ラブジェネレーション]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
A rather well written jdrama which includes the traditional improbable situations / misunderstandings / misinterpretations seen in almost all romantic jdrama;) I must say that I feared the worst as the characters played by Takuya Kimura and Takako Matsu were really hateful ... I continued for the couple Junna Risa / Masaaki Uchino had a much better chemistry and as the serie progressed I got to like the heroes aswell. So it's a nice serie, but not revolutionary;)
Naka nai to Kimeta Hi [泣かないと決めた日]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
I wouldn't say it was very original but actors were (mostly) good and they made 8 episodes which was enough. Pretty nice!
Nobuta wo Produce [野ブタ。をプロデュース]
Rating: 5/10 (Watched)
Often boring and irritating, barely entertaining.
Orange Days [オレンジデイズ]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
This story would be very basic if the heroin wouldn't be deaf as most of the situations have been seen 1000 times in other dramas. Great cast though, especially the leading roles.
Over Time [オーバー・タイム]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Very sweet drama and good chemistry beween Sorimachi/Esumi/Shiina. The story isn't as predictable as it first seems. A must see!
Papadol! [パパドル!]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
It was nothing really special but I enjoyed watching it. Most likely because of Nishikido Ryo. Otherwise despite the cute plotline and the great leads I'd say there weren't any chemistry between Yuka and Ryo, too bad because individually they were great. Could have been better but is nonetheless a nice and sweet drama.
Proposal Daisakusen [プロポーズ大作戦]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
I loved the time traveling plot and the somehow not completely predictable resolution. Actors were great and the final scene was an awesome way to end that nice drama.
Saikou no Rikon [最高の離婚]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Surprising and at last quite realistic romance. Perfect cast, funny when needed but also dramatic when required.
Sekai no chuushin de, ai wo sakebu [世界の中心で、愛をさけぶ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
A touching story about the loss of a love that death makes perfect. The story was really well written (I read the book) and very catchy, describing a beautiful romance. Unfortunately I don't think the cast was so great. Nobody was really bad after all, but the actors permorming Sakutaro are just ordinary, and don't seem able to show subtle emotions. On the other hand the secondary roles are all fine, and "Aki" (Ayase Haruka) is rather convincing. A soulful drama that I appreciated.
Shinya Shokudo [深夜食堂]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
One episode for ine cutomer. The stories were great (and the food looked awesome...) Don't watch it if you're on a diet otherwise it's a nice short drama.
Shinya Shokudo Season 2 [深夜食堂]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
One of the best slice of life drama I have seen. Very interesting and touching characters I loved how non judgemental and openminded the chef is. A must watch (and it will inspire a few a your next meals...).
Soredemo, Ikite Yuku [それでも、生きてゆく]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Very sad and touching drama, brilliantly interpreted by Mitushima/Eita.
Strawberry on the shortcake [ストロベリー・オンザ・ショートケーキ]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
This is basically the intricate crossed affairs of teenagers in highschool. The secondary characters were far more interesting than the main ones, and luckily they were pretty well developped, as I found Kukada Kyoko somehow irritating in that "pure minded girl" role. Anyway I think it was sometimes surprisingly deep (the teacher-student being the most gripping part), often attractive, always sweet. The final twist may not be credible (and honestly I didn't like it) but at least it spares us some tears ;)
Summer snow
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
It was watchable. It could have been really improved ith a better cast because on my opinion main actors seriously lacked charisma (Hirosue Ryoko was very boring and Dohmoto Tsuyoshi annoyed me at time with his overactivity) and there were no chemistry between them. On the other hand Oguri Shun did a good performance, and the story between Chika and Hiroto was sweet.
Taiyou no uta [タイヨのうた]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
The story was nice, but somehow despite it was very sad I don't think it could bring much emotion and on my opinion the male main character didn't fit the role. Anyway I enjoyed watching it, and maybe I had too high expectations because it's the very same actress who played in my favourite drama "Ichi ritoru no namida".
Wagaya no Rekishi [わが家の歴史]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Mostly pleasant and entertaining saga which depicts a troubled period in Japan. Cast was flawless.
Zenkai Girl [全開ガール]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Cute, sweet...but oh-so predictable. Giving this dorama only 6 may look tough, as after all it's mostly enjoyable, cast is quite nice and story entertaining. So what's the trouble? As I said it is VERY predictable, you can guess from the start what will happen and there is never any surprise. Seriously it seems I've seen the situations depicted in that "Zenkai Girl" many times before, and the twists always come when you expect them. So it's a bit boring, Iwould have liked something a bit more original. So if you're incredibly romantic, in love with one of the actor or if it's your first jdorama I'd recommend it. Or else...I think you can find something better to watch ;)

Finndlin's drama reviews (4)
Gokusen [ごくせん]
"College humor" [Rating: 6/10]
I did it, I watched the infamous "Gokusen" which is pretty much supposed to be one of the funniest jdrama. First of all if you're looking for something realistic and plausible you can spare you the trouble of watching it. You're not going to believe one second that the story could have actually really happened. For example you can clearly notice that Nakama Yukie can't fight, which makes all those tough yakusa combats positively ridiculous! As for the general plot, the idea of a the granddaughter yakusa being a teacher was rather nice and caused many good jokes (sometimes a bit repetitive..) Actor were just plain, and most of them weren't natural. It was very disturbing during the emotional sequence, the result was gross. Oh and I absolutely hated the moral lessons which were inappropriate for this kind of entertainment. I'd say it's a fair comedy, distracting and very forgettable ;)
Liar Game [ライアーゲーム]
Original...but clumsy! [Rating: 6/10]
I am very doubtful about this dorama and I can't really say wether I liked it or not as it contains as many positive and negative events in it. Let's first point out the good parts : the intrigue. It is of course absolutely not plausible, but it doesn't matter it's not necessarily supposed to be! The atmosphere was great and the music very well chosen. Nobuta wo Produce [野ブタ。をプロデュース]
Scam! [Rating: 5/10]
I really don't get why this dorama should be THE one which is praised amongst all the j-series. The plot is a bit weak, it lacks emotion, it's rarely funny and it gets corny and boring at some point. If the male cast is quite fine (Akira is on my opinion the most interesting character and Yamashita Tomohisa's doing a good job playing a weirdo) I didn't love so much the girls. I didn't quite like Nobuta, she is just dull and despite the new haircut I don't see so much changes in her that would make her more popular. As for Toda Erika... she's just plain bad, I think she cannot act I've seen her in three different doramas and it doesn't get better. Hmm. But there are also good sides of course, for example I really enjoyed the "ghost" episode, and the connection which is gradually growing between Akira and Shuji, or what's behind Shuji's poser's "guise". To conclude I'd say it's average and I could recommend much better doramas than this one.
Second Virgin [セカンドバージン]
Difficult to get into it...but reveals a nice surp [Rating: 7/10]
This serie started really badly : a boring and very slow beginning, with often annoying and not very interesting characters. After four episodes I gave up. But having nothing better to do I recently decided to get back to it ... and I could not leave the screen before the last episode. Here the story began at last : two great actresses (Hiroki Hasegawa seemed bland and inexperienced compared to those two amazing ladies), a rich plot full of twists and secondary roles properly interpreted. What started as a big cliché surfing on the "cougar" wave ended up as a fantastic drama. A nice change from all the highschool stuff!
