I have that same fang thing that Ryoko has.. same tooth and everything. Since people in America are so teeth conscious I was so scared that guys wouldn't like me because of it... my family couldn't afford to get me braces when we first realized my adult tooth would grow that way, and occassionally in school i was teased about it so I'm really self conscious about it. My dentist says that it's a very hard thing to change because of the placement of it. I met my boyfriend on the internet in 1999 and I was really afraid that when we met he'd be turned off by my teeth, but finally one night I told him about it and he said that he thought I was beautiful no matter what, that one stray tooth of mine wouldn't change his feelings about me. Ever since then I've felt better about it, but sometimes I still feel uneasy about it.
Sorry for rambling. |
Unfortunately, America and Americans are image conscious for the most part... Look at all of the toothapste and mouthwash commercials... But there's no need to feel uneasy about it as long as you're comfortable with it... Now there might be a dental reason to have it corrected (like impaction) that you may have to take into consideration...

I hate to bring up an old topic, but au contrare, I've been to dentists in the u.s AND Jpn as well and I find that the dentist there far exceeds the quality that they do here in the states. The dentists here feel the urge to "sell" you all the works: teeth grinding prevention device, teeth whitener(about 300/400 u.s dollars). And also to them, the one answer to all problems: root canal. I've been to, no kidding, at least 8 dentists here in america (or at least metropolitan d.c.) and they're always trying to spam me their stuff. Not only that, most insurance do not cover the "extras" that they sell. That's why i stop going to them and started to go to a JPN dentist 2 years ago. They were so gentle with my teeth, and the best part about is that they didn't try to sell me a bunch of crap.
Even without insurance over there, a root canal is MUCH cheaper than here. So if you ever want to go to japan and need some teeth work done, it will probably cheaper to go there and do it. _________________

it will be cheaper ...but will it be better? (i know for a fact that i would NOT get any medical surgery in japan)

I guess diffrent people will have different opinions. I personally think my JPN root canal is better in feel, in line with my surronding teeth than my American root canal.
Even if the quality is the same, I would have it done over there because, here I'll let you all decide:
Root canal w/ capping, with insurance: $1100 US$
Root canal w/ capping, w/o insurance: (equivalent)$250, ticket to Japan, $800. total=$1050
That's why I had it done over there. _________________
